About
Acorn Farm is an award-winning, family-friendly attraction in Kirkby, Merseyside. We are open 7 days a week 10am-4pm and there is always loads to see and do! Whatever the weather, Acorn Farm offers a great value, fun day out for everyone – our admission prices are £3.00 for adults and £2.00 for children! We have a wide range of animals here at the farm, many of which you can feed and stroke. Our animals include our ram, sheep, cows, goats, pigs, horses and chickens, small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs and even meerkats! We are a working farm, so we often have baby animals including lambs, goat kids, piglets and chicks to see too. During weekends and school holidays, we run small animal petting sessions at a cost of £1.50 per person and horse rides at a cost of £2.50 per person, we often have special events happening too.

Lovely little farm
Nov 2021
Very much enjoyed feeding and petting all the animals. Never seen Babydoll sheep before and loved how cute and friendly they were and how they wag their tail when you scratch under their chins! Very cheap and good selection in the cafe

We had a great family day out on Saturday at the farm. All staff so friendly and welcoming. In particular the lovely girls at the horse stables. They were just great and so attentive with the children. Amazing day out.

family trip
Oct 2021 • Family
It was a lovely afternoon with my two daughters and then I needed to sit down so we went to the cafe but all I could over hear was a dispute with a little older lady with glasses and a chef I think, about low kitchen staff. But management didn’t sort this out so food took long to be prepared and some customers were complaining to the chef, some were shouting at her but they kept it professional and tried their best.
I used to be a manager in a cafe and I know how stressful it can be.
Even though the long wait, the food was lovely.
The cafe staff were lovely despite the stress, with a smile on their face.
The kids had a lot of fun feeding the animals. We will probably come here for an afternoon trip again.
The couple of staff at the petting area were really polite and the kids loved the rabbit!
I would recommend this farm for a little family trip.

Great place to visit, not expensive, it isn’t a large farm but adequate for a cheap day out, staff are very friendly and helpful, toilets on site, cafe and picnic are also

Such a gem!
Aug 2021
It’s been a while since we visited and we’ve missed coming to Acorn Farm. Such a great place to visit. Very reasonably priced and great value. For two teens aged 15 & 16 plus me who was in desperate need of some animal therapy, plus two lots of food for the chickens etc, & the sheep etc, plus tickets for the petting area, it cost less than £15.
Acorn Farm has a lovely warm relaxing feel to it. You can walk around at your leisure while still social distancing.
Catherine was so lovely and helpful. We wanted to see the piglets who where in the shed with their mum so Catherine got them to come out. What a treat - 11 cute piglets in various colours.
She also showed us the ducklings whom we got to stroke. We felt like VIP’s!! Catherine was really friendly and patient.
The cafe was lovely too with reasonably priced snacks and drinks. We enjoyed coffee, tea, pop, a sausage roll, ginger cake which was so nice and a rocky road for £8!!
We will most definitely be back. Thank you Acorn farm. 🤗

Lovely farm, apart from the shop
Aug 2021 • Family
Such a lovely farm! Very well priced at only £3 entry and £1.50 per bag of food. The piglets and baby goats were absolutely adorable but our favourites had to be the babydoll sheep - super friendly and woolly! So 10/10 for the farm, but unfortunately our experience was slightly spoiled by a rude customer assistant in the shop.

The young girl serving us was absolutely lovely, but when my mum went to pay for our ice cream unfortunately her payment didn’t go through (which anyone who works in retail knows is a common experience and could be due to any number of factors), but another shop assistant (older lady with glasses) took it upon herself to loudly say “DECLINED, PAYMENT NOT TAKEN” multiple times while waving the receipt in our face. As if this wasn’t rude enough, the same shop assistant then started complaining about the paper roll for the card machine running out, as if it was my mums fault she didn’t have more paper for the machine?? My poor mum was really apologetic as she didn’t know what was wrong with her card, but even as my card eventually worked the woman kept going on about my mums declined payment in such a rude way drawing loads of attention to us as more customers were coming in, so my mum was obviously mortified and then upset on the way home.
Working in retail myself I would never react this way to embarrass customers or even speak to anyone this way in general. Technical issues with bank cards happen all the time, so this was just an absurd and appalling way to handle the situation. Overall a lovely farm and the fresh eggs and ice cream are amazing, just wish the customer service matched!

Love coming here - not just for the animals but also the playground and the staff, who are excellent. Great priced local produce too.

Lovely farm

We had a fun afternoon here. The playground provided about an hour of endless entertainment for my 2 little ones (aged 4 and 2). It was busy but didn’t feel overcrowded. We visited on a Saturday afternoon. Entrance fee is £3 per adult and £2 per child so a little pricey but we made the most of the afternoon. There is a picnic area available and a cafe which was small and too full for us to be seated so we left.
The animals are lovely for the kids to see and they can feed them with feed bought on entrance £1 a bag, however they all seemed full of this feed and didn’t really want it.
A lady came round at feeding time and let the girls feed them fruit which was nice of her.
People were friendly and welcoming.
I really don’t approve of the shop full of toys and snacks being the place where you buy your tickets. Naturally the girls saw them and wanted a toy, so next time one us will go in alone to buy tickets.
The cafe needs expanding which will benefit everyone 🙂
Horsing riding and petting is available for an extra charge (I think it’s £2.50) - there was a long line for the horse riding.

All in all I’d go back again and bring a picnic when it’s warmer.

Thank you very much for your review - we do appreciate it. We do try to keep our prices as low as we possibly can in order for everyone to enjoy their day out at the farm, we do apologise that you felt that this was pricey. During the summer months we do have our kiosk open which will sell the tickets onto the farm, plus the feed for the animals, it is only during the winter months that you purchase your tickets in the shop due to the kiosk being closed. We do have plans for a new cafe and shop and we shall keep you posted with this. We are glad that you all enjoyed your day out at the farm and thought that there was a lot to do and we hope to see you again in the near future, thanks.

5th Birthday Party
Jan 2020 • Family
Had my LG’s 5th birthday party here at the weekend- it was fantastic! The Manager Lyn was really helpful and took my little ones into the pigmy goat enclosure before everyone arrived. All the staff were helpful and polite. Everyone who attended commented on what a good time they had. The party room and toilets were clean and tidy. The kids loved the petting session!

Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic time had in the rain!
Oct 2019
We came for the first time with a 3 year old on a rainy day. We had loads of fun jumping in puddles, feeding the animals (food 50p a bag) and having lunch in the cafe which was really good and reasonably priced. Most of all, the staff were absolutely lovely taking time to talk to my young boy. The prices are really reasonable and it is a lovely way to spend half a day even in the rain when there are loads of puddles to jump in! We particularly liked feeding the goats and sheep which were really gentle, but fun to feed.
