If you walk along Hope Street you will come across a very interesting piece of street art; piles of suitcases and other luggage. Titled "A Case History", but known locally as 'The Hope Street Suitcases', it was installed in the late 1990s. Each item of luggage has a label showing which famous Liverpool person owns it. There is a board on a nearby pillar showing who owns which piece but, before you look at it, you can have a bit of fun trying to guess. Certainly worth crossing the street to inspect.

We really didn't understand it when we were there to see the school McCartney and Harrison attended. Interesting street art.

This is a different kind of street art. I really didn't understand it at the time. I was visiting The Art School John Lennon attended beside it and it caught my eye and I took a few pictures.

A Case History is a fantastic piece of street art located in the wonderful Georgian Quarter of Liverpool.
The work of John King ,the suitcases have been around since 1998 and if you examine the labels on the cases you will see they belong to many famous Liverpool dignitaries such as George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Arthur Askey, Robert Cain and many many more familiar names with big associations with Liverpool.
The cases make for some great photographic opportunities and are easily found at the junction of Hope Street and Mount Street.
Well worth checking out.

Great bit on street art between the two cathedrals. Supposed to depict the arrival of immigrants into the city.

A Case History is an awesome piece of street art that at first glance appears to be a set of random concrete cases that pass as some sort of clever street art ,this was my first impression when I saw it but after a little bit of studying I realised the significance of this artwork.
Created by John King in 1998 the labelled suitcases and bags belong to Liverpools most famous citizens including Josephine Butler,Robert Cain,Anne Plough,Dr William Henry Duncan,Arthur Askey,John Lennon,George Harrison,Sam Walsh,Paul McCartney,Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and many more famous names, there is a notice board that outlines which case belongs to who and it makes for a great tourist site in one of Liverpool's most picturesque parts of town.
A Case History is to be found on the junction of Hope Street and Mount Street and is well worth checking out.

A CASE HISTORY is a wonderful piece of street art that can make you smile with its quirky random layout and location and also make you stand and think about the imagination that has taken place from our city over the many years.
The cases are interesting as is the guitar and if your passing it for the first time you will probably stop and Stare.
Unveiled in 1998 and created by John King it's location between the two cathedrals is well thought out and being on the junction of Hope Street and Mount Street in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter means that it is viewed by a wide variety of people as this is an extremely popular area of Liverpool.
Well worth checking out.

Imagine a whole load of cases dumped on a city centre pavement.
Outrageous you might think but with artistic licence, the Hope Street, Liverpool art installation is a thought-provoking, social statement and reminder of the immigrants who sailed from the port of this great city. Go and treat yourself, there's nothing like it in the whole world.

I like this sculpture. Liverpool was
once the gateway to the western world and this piece of street art is a reflection on the the many migrants who passed through the port on their way to the USA and elsewhere. It is well done and a good photo opportunity. Very appropriate that it should be on Hope Street too.
