- Voyager1906646663233 contributionsLast minute break at Christmas as we got a great deal at Travel Lodge. we hit lucky with the weather, as the day we left was covered in fog, but what a great place to spend a couple of days just walking around looking at the buildings in the city or the attractions on the docks. I carry a DSLR camera around my neck which is quite obvious & expensive, but I never felt as if I was going to get mugged or anything. There's a few homeless people sleeping in doorways & some ask for change but were very polite even when refused money. Definitely worth a visit & we didn't see it all so we will be back there again.Visited December 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten December 29, 2024
- L_K1509London, United Kingdom1,747 contributionsA great location for a Sunday stroll. A clean and beautifully restored area of the docks. Lots of individual cafes, shops and mix of museums and hotels. We had planned our visit around going to The Beatles story, having spent about 2 hours in the museum we then wandered around the dock area. The pump house was an interesting redeveloped building, now a Green King pub, was a good stop for a quick drink and snack. Appears to be a safe area.Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 19, 2025
- J01Liverpool, United Kingdom508 contributionsFirst time here in ages and what a great place. We visited on a sunny warm Saturday and had a great time. Parking was plenty full and reasonable, just take into account the spaces are a little tight and remember lots of pedestrians. Lots of places to eat and drink, coffee shops alike, you will be stuck for choice. All areas where spotless so a credit to those who maintain the area. Would recommend 100% , we spent a good 3 hours pottering about.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 8, 2024
- BeccaowlPreston, United Kingdom109 contributionsWe went down to the docks in the evening as previously advised. Super place to find something to eat - something for everyone at different price brackets. However, only a couple of the shops were open to visit and feel if all locations had similar opening and closing times would be more productive.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 23, 2024
- Thomas VOakland, California19,526 contributionsThis is a great re-use of industrial port areas, plus the old warehouses. Now converted to entertainment and tourism. We were well positioned to take advantage since our cruise ship docked here. We visited a museum and had lunch and strolled around. Very popular.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 3, 2024
- mark DPeterborough, United Kingdom166 contributionsWell worth a visit, lots to see, shops. Restaurants and museums. Some nice quirky shops and a good variety of cafes and restaurants. Also boat trips available. Just would like some shops to stay open later.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 2, 2024

I visited on Friday 08th September 2023. After exiting the City Bus Tour which terminated next to the dock, we just walked around Albert Dock enjoying the views and great value eclectic shops. Lots of street and more formal food outlets as well as a canal tour. Would have been nice to see a little pop culture icon in the form of the GMTV Weather Island from the 1980's but it is not to be.

There is so much to see and do during a visit to The Albert Dock. If you are into Maritime History, you will not be disappointed as these docks are not just famous for the importation and exportation of a variety of goods, but it is also famous for many tall ships coming into Liverpool. The dock buildings and warehouses were designed by Phillip Hardwick and Jesse Hartley and built from brick, stone and cast iron. There is parking, but I would advise you arriving earlier in the day to make sure of a parking space at The Albert Dock as thousands of visitors a day come to spend the day here. There are multistory car parks near The Albert Dock within a short walking distance. Plenty of shops to visit, cafes to have a snack and drink in. There are also bars to sit in and enjoy a drink and soak up the atmosphere that Liverpool has to offer. The Tate Museum is a good place to visit if you enjoy looking at many different styles of paintings and ceramics. If special exhibitions are on display, you may have to book before visiting this display.

The only good thing for us about this hotel was the location.
Despite two of us changing rooms, we still didn’t have Wi-Fi even when trying the upgraded option. The second room was very ‘tired’ with a mal functioning sink outlet, needed a visit from maintenance.
One of our group was stuck in a lift for 45 mins. And that whole experience was badly handled.
The restaurant/ bar was often closed, so couldn’t even get a drink during the day.
Totally understaffed and badly managed.
Only Harry (I think it was) on reception tried to be genuinely helpful.
I’m sure one could easily find far better options nearby.
I occasionally managed to piggy back WiFi from the Holiday Inn network next door.
Customer Services are not interested as they say I didn’t reply within 7 days.
I did try but spent so long navigating circles before I could access a case number, I was too late ….. apparently.

Great place to spend an afternoon.
Numerous bars and restaurants/eateries within the dock to suit most budgets - lots with outside seating to people watch the dock basin.
or you can just walk around free ( no entrance fee) right up to the Mersey for free
Tate gallery too within the dock area.
In the evening - the huge columns are lit up adding to the atmosphere.
A few minutes across the dock road to Liverpool One area and 10 minutes stroll from Caver Walks.

It is hard to believe that in the mid-80s this gorgeous dock was considered for demolition. I am so glad it was resurrected. It is now a wonderful place for shopping, dining, and enjoying life be It alone or with family. My wife and I try to come here at least once whenever we visit our daughter and her family. Check this place out for whatever you desire...shopping or dining or both!

It was so good jumping the train down to Liverpool city centre when some of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions were lifted on 4th July to visit some of the great pubs and bars our city possesses and enjoying the great tourist sites and a trip to the Albert Dock was a must go destination.
From the Pier Head to the Albert Dock the architecture and waterfront is magnificent, old warehouse buildings converted to pubs, bars and restaurants and some great museums ,its a place that I always look forward to visiting.
We were here on a Saturday afternoon, looked at all the statues and monuments including the fun Lambanana statue's ,dropped into The Pump House Pub for few beers sat outside looking over to the old docks and walked down through the Albert Dock towards The Baltic Fleet Pub ,a lovely walk, nice to see that gradually we are trying to return to some normality, if your planning a trip to Liverpool, an area I would highly recommend you visit .

Our hotel was nearby and the Albert Dock is a good place to walk around and find a nice place to eat. The area is clean and spacious. There is a Thai restaurant which served nice spicy hot food well received after a long train journey !

I don't often venture down to the Albert Dock, but I really should because there is a lot going on down there. There is a good range of cafés and restaurants, as well as the Maritime Museum and the Tate art gallery. There are places to get ice cream and plenty of benches/seating areas if you want to cool off. The view over the River Mersey is very scenic and it's a lovely place to take a walk if you are close to the Centre of Liverpool, more so than the main shopping bit.
At peak times, however, it can get quite busy, so bear this in mind if you are not fond of large crowds.
I would definitely recommend a visit to the Albert Dock, however, if in the Liverpool area.

Handsome buildings on all sides (would have liked more information available to make it a more educative experience).
Can imagine the area attracts many visitors in warmer weather. Plenty of different eateries to choose from and a few shops.

A lovely place to wander around. The architecture is stunning - massive red brick port warehouses, beautifully restored. We stayed in the Premier Inn in Albert Dock, so saw the architecture from the inside - absolutely amazing, shame the Premier Inn experience was so awful!
As well as wandering round the waterfront, there is the excellent Maritime Museum (incorporating the equally excellent International Slavery Museum), many restaurants and cafes and a host of retail outlets (many of them spectacularly tacky!!)

Got a relative stopping by on a coach trip on a Sunday for a few hours, looking for suggestions for nice lunch , not extortionate nearby or within walking distance.

Tell them to have a stroll around the dock area. A lovely walk, it isn't a massive area but a really nice place to be.
There's plenty of places to eat, from Sandwiches to pizza...steak to fish and chips ,... See what they fancy on the day,
We usually look at the menu, outside to view a lot of the time. This way we can check what is on the menu and how much it's going to cost before we go in.
Liverpool is great.

I am visiting with my family in late September. While we are not Mormon, we are primarily interested in Albert Dock, and any Mormon points of interest near the dock, as our ancestors converted to Mormon while in Liverpool and left for the United States from Albert dock in 1855, on the ship Charles Buck. I know there is a sculpture commemorating the Mormon emigration, but anything beyond this would be extremely helpful. We'd greatly appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

If you ‘Google’ ‘Mormon Albert docks’, several sites return with interesting links including the BBC, Liverpool museum and some LDS sites. I tried to paste the links here but was prevented.
Hope they help.
