One of only four copies of the Magna Carta. Over 800 years old and thought provoking. It is one of the most important documents in history as it established the principle that everyone is subject to the law, even the king, and guarantees the rights of individuals, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial.

As a piece of English history this document has to be one of the most famous. Excellent to see it on display.
When we visited the film show was broken so I'm unable to give it 5 stars but it was interesting to see the actual document rather than a facsimilie.
It is incorporated into the Lincoln Castle entrance fee so there are plenty of other things to see if this is not your bag.
You are not allowed to take photos but there are plenty of photos available online or in the gift shop

A really nice - short - video explaining the history of the Magna Carta and its relationship with Lincs, well as the actual documents (a later version of the Charter of the Forest) Well worth a visit; although an hour (unless you’re having a cuppa) is over egging the pudding.

It is a place very understated, but so poignant, It was wonderful to read about it and realise it's importance to everyone still to this day.
It's setting is dark and still with no outside noise and that lets you feel the past while you look. Great memory!

Visited the castle on the Sunday mainly to see the Magna Carta. But on that day there were a number of things to see and do. Archery, falconry and equestrian events. There was also a Lego exhibition with models relating to the moon landing. Well worth the visit and the entrance fee.

This is within the castle, but if you want to see the Magna Carta you should check online first, as it is not always there. Good film presentation about it, Very informative.

There's actually not much to see. The film is OK and explains quite a lot of detail, there are three separate pages of TBH unreadable text and then you go back out to the prison which was really rather good.

Not sure what else there is to say about this - one of the original copies of magna carta, 800 years old, right before your eyes. If that is your thing, you'll want to visit. If you aren't bothered by that, you wont. Staff were very friendly. The cinema experience is less amateur than I feared, but I'm not sure it'll convert any history-phobes.

Visited this as part of the Castle tour.
Very informative, even in a very small amount required to visit, especially the little movie shown in the cinema.
