We found it useful to watch the video in the shop in its entirety before undertaking the tour as it re created scenes from the history of the palace. We were then able to bring to mind what each different area of the ruin represented and what it would have looked like in its prime.

An amazingly well preserved piece of important history. Without the rebuilding of aspects of the cathedral and castle, it would still be in one piece! A very worthwhile visit with great insights into the past and views over Lincoln!

An enjoyable hour wandering around this mediaeval ruin. I found the garden particularly interesting and attractive. The audio guide was not one of the best ones I have used as there were few options in each area.

I had read all about this palace as Richard the third stopped there on his coronation tour as the castle was used a jail. so to be able to visit it and see where the rooms were was great,i loved it although it is a ruin.

An enjoyable hour was spent wandering around the ruins of the Bishops palace. Bare in mind some areas are quite steep and there are quite a lot of steps.

English heritage attraction. Worth tagging on a visit before cathedral visit. It takes an hour to look around. Friday's you can get a free guided tour with member of staff 12 noon 2pm or 4 pm. Alternative to faffing about with the audio guide. The film running in the shop is extremely informative also and has the added bonus of... More

Visiting on a sunny morning added to the charm of this place. The audio guide took us round, explaining the buildings and their use clearly. There's plenty to see and it shows what an important building this was. It gives good views of the city, but you need to be fairly active to get around.

Medieval Bishops' Palace is one of those attractions that you have to see if you are near it. It is through English Heritage and has a gift shop as well. It is mainly outside so I would say not to go when I did - it was pouring with rain and made it a bit slippery - but it was... More
