The RAF Scampton Heritage Centre is housed inside the Annexe offices of the former 617 Sqn Hangar which is an English Heritage Grade II listed building. After a period of extensive renovation work carried out by volunteers, the Heritage Centre re-opened in June 2012. There is now the opportunity to see Wg Cdr Guy Gibsons office as it would have looked like in 1943.The Heritage Centre is open to the public by appointment only. Visits can be booked through the Head Curator Mr Roger Crisp. We can accommodate small and large groups, coach tours are very welcome as well as school trips.

Having been stationed at RAF Scampton in the late 70s/early 80s I thought it would be refreshing to pay the old station a visit during a short break in Lincoln, bearing in mind the security situation. We were both dismayed to learn that a minimum of 2 weeks notice is now required to visit the museum meaning we had a... More

Simply see all the places where gibson and the rest of the Guys were, stand in the places they did, see some items youll never see anywhere else. Contact the Guardroom to arrange a tour.

I contacted them well in advance of our visit, the booking was easy, and conformation sent to us. We arrived 10 mins before our 11a.m time, we were met in the car park, out IDs were checked, then off in convoy we went. We were shown Guy Gibson's beloved dog's grave, the bouncing bomb, we saw a replica of a... More

Organised via email from Dubai a good 6 weeks before our visit, excellent communication was received and clear instructions given as to what ID, etc was needed on the day and what the 2 hour visit would entail. Barry and his daughter Pat were incredible hosts for our visit and both passionately led the tour of Scampton with great affection... More

We really enjoyed looking round the museum and at the large selection of planes. The museum's hold loads of artefacts that a lot of people who aren't that old can still relate to in films. Well worth a visit.

Having set this visit up from australia for my father who turns 100 this year and having been promised some extras like a meet and greet from some serving RAF officer and an invite to lunch in the mess and all because they had great respect fro returning servicemen and there can't be many left from ww2. However on the... More

If you have any interest at all in the Dambusters or the Red Arrows this is surely the place for you. Our guide Colin was very knowledgable and helpful informing us of the Dambusters film which was part shot there, and the whole 617 Guy Gibson story, including the beautiful grave his dog who didn't do his kerb drill. (Not... More

The guides were very knowledgeable. Everything was well displayed. Each room was given over to different items. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I was there, which I wasn't expecting to feel. It's interesting for children and adults

Visited this museum with my dad and brother. If you have an interest in the Dambusters and RAF Sampson then you will not be disappointed. With ä knowledgeable tour guide you are taken to the grave of Guy Gibson,s dog bigger. You are also taken into Guy Gibson office and given a talk about the great man himself. The VC... More
