I am normally a big fan of 33 Cank street and whenever I have friends visiting it is the first place I take them as I have always felt it offers a much better range and experience than most bars in Leicester.
However, we visited on Saturday and were disappointed with the service. We booked the table for an hour. Whilst I appreciate booking is even more important during the pandemic and that all your staff have had to adapt to the changes, the way they managed the time slots was rude. Our drinks took 15-20 mins to arrive, we were then given a count down every 10 minutes of how long we had left on the booking. Due to this, we didn’t bother to order more than one drink as we felt rushed and it wasn’t the relaxed experience we had hoped for. The bar was empty, with only 2 other tables taken and the whole of town was empty that night so I can’t imagine there were customers queuing around the block to get in. We would have spent more and enjoyed ourselves more if we were not on a countdown to leave.
I have also tried to support the bar throughout lockdown by buying the takeaway cocktail service and both times have found the manager to be rude, poor at communication and inflexible with timings.
It’s a place I normally love and want to see small business such as this thrive in Leicester so will return but hoping they work on customer service.

I fist visited the bar in June with my daughter. We loved it! Very cosy and quirky inside. Lovely, friendly staff. Expert bar tenders. Fabulous range of traditional and modern cocktails. This weekend I came with my friend, she loved it too. We sat outside and it’s a great area to relax and people watch. I’ve tried a few cocktail bars in Leicester and you get what you pay for. These aren’t the cheapest but they are the best. They are actually good value as they use good measures of spirits and you don’t just get a glass full of ice. My favourite is the Hail Maria. All cocktails are beautifully presented. The toilets are very clean too which is always a plus. I’ll definitely be back.

Both jacks and Xander deliver some of the finest Manhattan cocktails period ! Definitely the best in leicester

I’ve been coming to this little bar for years but it’s gone down hill recently both in terms of service and the massive hike in prices for classic cocktails. The menu given says happy hour is £6/£7 and nowhere does it mention a full price classic cocktail. However it’s gone from £7.50 to £10!!! There’s a better margarita to be had at the the bottle garden and they won’t chuck you out after 90 mins either! Such a shame it’s not such the special place it was.

Great little bar in Leicester.

We visited for a friend's birthday and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We booked in advance but were running late and asked if they could hold our table for longer, which they did!

You can order drinks via the app which is great but table service was just as quick and staff were friendly and really attentive.

Their novelty house cocktails were amazing and would highly recommend The Cereal Drinker cocktail. So delicious!

Hope to visit again soon!

The cocktails are amazing, the team are amazing and Shania and Lina are superb hosts. Cocktails by Jack and Chalky are well worth having. Made to perfection..... Without a doubt the best bar in Leicester. Lovely ambiance, good music and a place where like minded folk can exchange decent conversation.

i have been back a few times and loved it every time.

best to reserve a table and maximum allowed time per sitting is 2 hours.
this is a hidden gem in leicester. So glad its around.

this bar comes highly recommended.

The best cocktail bar in Leicestershire, no exception. All the staf are extremely kowledgeable and tentative.
List off cocktails caters to the experienced through to the adventurous.
Great atmosphere and could easily spend a whole evening there.
No other bar in Leicestershire comes close.

Very loud and very busy, after going back after long time this place has lost its mojo.
The cocktails were not as good as last time.
Slightly over priced and not great quality.
It’s a shame as we used to love this place but we will not be going back.

We were visiting a couple of friends in Leicester for the weekend, and following a lovely dinner in the centre of town they suggested we try 33 Cank Street to keep the mood alive.

Upon entering we could see two empty tables that hadn't been cleared. There was no acknowledgement from the staff at the bar, or the waitresses who were working the room, so we decided to help ourselves to one of the tables which had seats for the 4 of us.

When the waitress finally came to clear the table, she poured four glasses of room temperature water, and instructed us that we had the table for 45 minutes and then we must leave. She seemed abrupt, bordering on rude, but we agreed and decided to read through the menu and pick some cocktails to sample.

The first thing you notice is how costly the drinks are. We've frequented all types of cocktail bar across the country, and their prices at 33 were bordering on outer-London territory. We were expecting very good cocktails for the price, but unfortunately were left underwhelmed.

Drinks took 15 minutes to arrive, by which point we were getting ever-closer to the end of our 45 minute window. Given the small size of our drinks, and the 90% crushed ice content of mine, I didn't see us having a problem drinking them quickly. Because that's what you want on a relaxing weekend break, to rush your drinks and be ushered out of the door, right?

Unfortunately the waitress is quite the timekeeper. With 10 minutes to go, we had our bill thrust onto the table, with a condescending tap of her watch to compliment it. I couldn't believe it, had she really just tapped her watch? My friends were visibly embarrassed. They'd picked 33 Cank Street to show us the best of what Leicester could offer. Instead we were given a pretty substandard 45 minutes of expensive rudeness and an exercise in Eastern European military timekeeping.

We split the bill, as we'd done with dinner. She took the cash away, and didn't return, apart from to tell us the next customers had arrived (they hadn't, everyone in the room was seated at that point). I explained that we were waiting for our change, which wasn't forthcoming. She disappeared behind the bar again, and returned 30 seconds later with it. We decided against leaving a tip.

I'd hazard a guess that next time we visit the city, we won't be returning to 33.
Oh and for god's sake, watch out for the heated metal ceiling; our heads were on fire!

Went here with some friends on a Friday night. It's quite small so booking a table is advised. The cocktails were really pretentious - one came on a slate with feta cheese on the side. This place thinks it's Masterchef rather than a cocktail bar. Won't add anything to your night out so I'd avoid.
