The buildings history is interesting, along with the walk up and down New Walk. Some of the highlights are a Stanley Spencer, LS Lowery and a polar bear from the local mint manufacturers. The dinosaur area is a good along with Attenboroughs collection of Picasso pottery.

This is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon if that's all you have. With a variety of great exhibits there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

New Walk Museum is a treasure. Last visited in October to see an Alfred Russell Wallace exhibition. I try to visit the museum at least once every 4 months. Great place for anyone. The dinosaur display is probably everyone's favourite.

This was not on my list of things to see in my day out to Leicester but I'm glad I found it! It is based in New Walk, an old and established area of the city which has been traffic free for over 200 years thanks to the Friends of New Walk. It's sort of like a Pall Mall, there... More

The museum is just a short walk from the city centre and railway station. It has an excellent dinosaur and fossil gallery, while the Ancient Egyptian section is also well worth a visit - kids especially will be fascinated. There's a cafe and very good gift / souvenir shop. Various exhibitions also feature through the year - I especially remember... More

Personally this place wasn't for me but I thought I'd visit it because it was near the flat I'm living in and also it's free (donations welcome). The museum looks great on the outside and in the inside there's lots to learn and see. This place would be great for people who love history and culture. There is also a... More

Was a nice and varied experience complete with Mummies, Dino bones and art. And as all museums free of charge !!! Located fairly central to the city and near Victoria Park so parking is plenty.
