Visited 12th Dec for our works Christmas lunch. Great food and service from Matt and his team. Very well looked after in every way. One of the most enjoyable Christmas meals out that we have had.Turkey dinner was large, hot, with plenty of meat and veggies. Well done!!

    Great Xmas Lunch
We booked our works Xmas lunch here. The process was easy, great communication, lovely food & great service. It went without a problem! As the lunch organiser I'm really grateful for this. Thoroughly recommend it.
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!

The staff were lovely, the food was disappointing. Mac and cheese was the point thing we ordered, but serving it with a salad which consisted of lettuce, a few cold chick peas and a couple of lumps of cold butternut squash was a mistake. Mac and cheese is so cheap to make and at over £7 for a small bowl, it seemed expensive. The chicken and chips, which they gave 50p to the NHS was a nice touch, but the portion wouldn't have fed a child. The sharer plates of chips barely fed one. The menu was limited and they had run out of some of the things. Chicken wings were dry.

Covid friendly food and drinks ordering app didn't work, so the staff had to come and take the orders.

Card machine didn't work on contactless, so had to put card in and put in PIN, as did everyone.

Not the greatest experience.

I have been going to soar point for five years and I have never had such an experience with a tempered short muscley person with tattoos before, he must be new because the other staff are absolutely lovely people.

My colleague had asked if he could try a craft beer the barman already seemed very moody at the time, after sharing my experience with the neck oil, I proposed my colleague to try it the barman seemed less than enthused said "sure" with a very moody tone from the start.

I bought a neck oil topped all the way he had bought a half pint of the number 5 and asked if he could top it up it was at the line to be fair to the barman, I proceeded to talk privately to my colleague and said although it's filled to the line I believe the pint glass does not go all the way to the top too by that standard..

The barman got extremely moody with my private conversation with my colleague and became a bit threatening to be frank, when speaking to my colleague privately he proceeded to shout "What was that!?" I told him what I told my colleague, he got extremely moody and upset and got out 3 glasses to show us all the lines for half pints and quarters almost slamming them on the bar, I wouldn't mind if he explained calmly but he was very very rude about everything from the start clearly just a sad little person. He looked at me with anger almost like he wanted to fight.

I am not sure if he has short man syndrome but the little guy needs to calm down.

Even if we disagree you frankly don't need to talk to customers like that given that we was polite all the way through..

Booked a table and on arrival one of our party wasn’t able to scan in using NHS test and trace. Not everyone has the latest iPhone that supports the app. We offered contact tracing details with identification but were told that anyone who didn’t have the NHS app would not be admitted. The hospitality industry complains about how badly the industry has suffered due to Covid but this place must be doing really well to be in a position to turn a significant amount of business away because they are not prepared to write down an address and phone number. If this is the policy then fine, but at least tell folk when they book.

We spent a significant amount of money elsewhere so their loss

We ordered two burrito bowls with a topping of bbq jackfruit and paid £22. The bowls looked like someone had just poured various colours of slop over a tortilla. On further investigation there was a small amount of rice underneath the copious amount of semi-liquid ingredients which were supposed to be guacamole, sour cream, cheese and bbq jackfruit. As I was rather hungry, I tried to eat it but the tortilla was soggy and the filling just slid out no matter how I attempted to get it into my mouth. By this point, the ingredients had amalgamated together to create a very unappetising brownish slop. On complaining, we were offered some mediocre fries with bbq jackfruit topping but no refund. Staff were friendly but the food was awful - definitely won’t be returning.

This pub is literally the bet pub of all time! From the bingo on Thursday to the quiz on Sunday's! This place is always welcoming and vibrant! Plus I always get a discount because I bang one of the bar maids!

We came here with friends for a drink one evening. It started well, nice atmosphere and surroundings however at 12:05 (just 5 minutes) after close were told to 'get out' despite some of the group still having half of their drink left. As a barmaid myself, I have waited hours after close for customers to finish their drinks so I was rather put out when we were rudely told to leave.
However this is quite understandable, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to go again the next day for breakfast. Online the opening times CLEARLY state that it opens at 8am but we arrived around 9:55. When we got there another rude lady told us that it doesn't open until 10am and to wait outside. As it was freezing cold outside I asked if I could wait inside for 5 minutes, not expecting to be served but just to wait by the door. Clearly this was too much to ask and we were told 'no we aren't open until 10 go wait outside' as I walked out I said to my friend let's not eat here then to which the ladies behind the bar sniggered. This place severely lacks costumer service and the staff lack manners! As uni students living next door to soar point we are so disappointed. No wonder the place was empty with staff as rude as that.

Visited this pub today and couldn't believe people were eating when people had vomited in 3 of the sinks in the toilets and the ladies were flooded with flies buzzing around. Apart from smelling of excrement. the store room door was clearly open for all to see with rubbish bags askew on the floor with no hygiene levels or standards which has staff walking through with plates etc. Health and safety is clearly required.

Me and my friend love The Soar Point and the staff are usually just lovely, along with a nice atmosphere, decent food and reasonable prices we really can't loose.

However, this last visit me and my friend ordered food and drinks, while having a chat and chatting to the bar staff as we ordered - we completely forgot we hadn't waited for our drinks as we walked back over to the table with a good number etc.

Almost as soon as we sat down we realised what we'd done and my friend popped back to the bar - and which point hearing "If those two think I'm brining their drinks over they've got another think coming" (insert choice swear words in places). As he saw my friend when he turned around, he looked very shocked as she apologised for our mistake.

I'm really upset as The Soar Point is one of my favourites and I've always got on with the staff - but I'm shocked to see that the staff could openly talk about customers in that way..

Will definitely return as its a favourite bar - but maybe less often, and I certainly do not feel as welcome.

Came in to watch football while working in the area, was busy enough with an ok atmosphere pity the bar staff don’t take a bit of time pouring Guinness, poured like a lager so felt a bit like Hansel and Gretel leaving white foam blobs from the bar to my seat
