Excellent, informative and interesting
Mar 2020 • Couples
We just enjoyed our second visit to the museum, due to buying tickets with a free return within one year. It was just as good the second time and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I am a bit of a history geek, but the Mr isn't, and he was equally impressed with it all. The information is brilliantly presented and draws you in without forcing you to a set conclusion, and because we learnt loads of stuff we have talked about it for the rest if the day!

Excellent Interpretative Center on the life and death of Richard 3rd
Feb 2017 • Couples
The discovery of the remains of Richard the 3rd was a worldwide news story and the display in the Center gives an excellent day by day account of the archeological process of the exhumation. In other parts of the Center Richards life and his significance to English history is explained very clearly. It is worth setting aside a couple of hours to visit this site on a visit to Leicester.

This is a wonderful and informative place to visit. History brought to life in front of you. Something for all ages, don't miss it if you are in Leicester.

Richard the III... more information, beautifully presented about this King.
May 2016 • Friends
We read about the phenomenal DNA fingerprinting of Richard the Third's bones, in the Globe and Mail Newspaper, several years ago in Canada, when the bones of this monarch were discovered in England. Because of this, we were very curious with respect to how this discovery would be presented. From a friend in England we learned about the fierce competition between the two cities (Leicester and York) for the privilege of housing this outstanding and historical display. We couldn't resist, and on a rainy day, off we went to view the entire story. I won't spoil it for you, but my hat is doffed to the curators, scientists, historians, fund raisers and managers that put this incredible story together. Thoughtful and respectful, but not autocratic, you may draw your own conclusions as to the nature and philosophy of this, England's last Catholic King. (I'd go back and see it again...) - Lise A.

Richard lll Exhibition
Jun 2016 • Friends
A really enjoyable time at the Richard lll exhibition, followed by a visit to the Cathedral, which is just over the road. I never knew history could be so interesting!! Well planned, informative, we spent over 2.5 hours wandering around. There is a nice cafe and gift shop on site as well as a lovely courtyard garden to sit and drink your tea in. The cathedral, although fairly small, is lovely inside and there are plenty of guides to give you information if needed. The tomb itself is beautiful in its simplicity. A short walk into the city centre brings you to all the shops, pubs and cafes you could ever need. Can thoroughly recommend a visit.

Discover Richard
Apr 2016 • Couples
What a great exhibit--not too long, not too short--a real multimedia experience to find out how the incredible discovery of Richard was made and quite a bit about his life! Fully worth the price--even if you're one of those who thinks he belongs in York!

Top attraction on our trip!
Sep 2015 • Couples
We just loved the Richard III Center. This is very well done. The first floor of the Center has information about Richard's life and the battle at Bosworth. The second floor is the story of how his remains came to be found. It is all very interesting and impressive. We saw many sites on our 15 day trip to England, but this was our favorite. The cathedral visit was also good - to see his tomb and talk to one of the guides about it. This was the primary reason we visited Leicester, and it was worth it.

Detailed and wordy but thorough
Aug 2015 • Friends
This exhibition is a good account of the search for the King's body and uses technical displays to good advantage to do this. There is a lot to read so not very useful for young children at all. Good cafe there with reasonable prices. Excellent bookshop with so many books to choose from on the topic. If busy there is a bit of shuffling as people need to read panels of information at one or two places. The price is about the average nowadays £7 for oldie like me. Family tickets available but I would not take very young children personally but there are plenty of silly toys in the shop for them.

Beautiful cathedral for his tomb

Having time for the crowds to lighten since his arrival in March, our visit was splendid. The lighter crowd and cool weather made for a cozy atmosphere inside. Good for Leicester!
