Van Gogh in Leicester?

A truly unique presentation of Van Gogh's life & art. Worth paying a bit extra for the VR experience too - it's amazing.

Van Gogh Immersive

I visited the Van Gogh exhibition at the church last half term with another family & before Covid.
Expectation exceeded reality. It was very overpriced... went for a half term treat... £38 for a family of 4 then another £12 for the 3D experience. Whole thing took less than a hour, pleasant enough but frankly a total rip off. I would absolutely not recommend.... spend your money and time on something else.
Interestingly, despite the number of actual reviews, only the positive ones show??!! and for my previous review of this exhibition at the church, disappointingly I was contacted to say I must have posted my review in the wrong place & can no longer find it. Surely not to manipulate review ratings?

Visual highlight
Aug 2020 • Couples
Unlike some of the reviews my wife and went today and thought it was really very good . Very informative and liked the visual show very much .
It doesn’t last long but thought £22 for us seemed a fair price given the cost of staging the show .
Didn’t do the 3D experience so can’t comment . Didn’t realise we liked so many Van Gogh pictures
Only slight disappointment is I would have like a bit of info about the church itself which upon reading up on it clearly has a great history . Think there is a missed opportunity there .
Well done all involved . Good covid protocols

A very moving tribute to the painter. Very biographical and educational.
A lovely way to experience the paintings.

The main hall gallery showed beautiful images across the walls and floor accompanied by music and inspiring quotes from Van Gogh.

Good but expensive
Feb 2020
The highight is the immersive audio/visual experience. The church setting makes it particularly evocative.

However it is expensive - £13 to get in and the 3D glasses bit is an additional £3!

Good - but for the best Van Gogh exhibition in the world go to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

So special.... Spell binding for all ages.....
Such an unusual way to present an artist's works and life, even if you know nothing about art you'd love it!

This was an amazing experience. We could have spent all day. Great place for the children and adults. Parking is across the road or in the high cross shopping centre. Do wear a coat it can be cold. Lots of things to read and watch, opportunity to draw for the children and adults.

What can I say but THE BEST. Such a wonderful experience. I like Van Gogh's works and this experience helped me understand the artist with more sympathy. My husband and friend did Virtual Reality tour and both agreed that was excellent. A well put together exhibition that the church added to by its layout.
Highly recommended for art lovers or anyone who wants to experience an explosion of colours.

Medieval church
May 2018
Went along primarily to visit the war memorials exhibition, in a rear part of the building. Was offered the opportunity to go inside the church and was told something of its history by someone with a long connection with the church. There are some fascinating features in there. It’s seems a shame that whoever is responsible for the church doesn’t do more with it. I believe it is no longer used for worship, but would be ideal for exhibitions or concerts.

Personally special
Sep 2017 • Solo
Back in the 1800s, my 3rd Great Grandfather was Christened and married here, and his daughter with his second wife, my great-great grandmother was also Christened here before they migrated out to Utah years later. To be able to step into the Gallery next door, borrow the key, and let myself into this special piece of history from my family was a dream come true. I was absolutely alone in this church while the rain poured outside and this ancient Norman church was just amazing to see. Thank you SO much to The Churches Conservation Trust and those who keep this place up!
