Millstone Lane is the place to go in Leicester for beer lovers. The Blue Boar is a friendly micro pub with a big range of well kept real ales. In October there was a good range of autumnal stouts and porters ( Titanic Milk Stout exemplary) as well as lighter pales, ruby and wheat beers. This was a stroll from my hotel and only paces from the Two Tailed Lion which is even smaller inside but still welcoming to a stranger and a smaller but still fine choice of beers including many bottles. CAMRA members discount here. Over the road if you need food is the Rutland and Derby. Weakest of the three for beer but still ok and adequate pub food. Next time in Leicester I shall return.

This great little craft ale pub has become a firm favourite with me and my friends over the past few months. Having been treated to the most offensive service of my life only a week ago in the Two Tailed Lion along the road, I return to this pub for the quality and range of ales, the friendliness of service and the doorstopper cheese and onion cobs - all of which come at an extremely affordable price. The absence of a television screen is a blessed relief as it permits people to actually talk, listen and find a little oasis of calm.

On recommendation from a friend I wandered in here. This is the pub I would have. Real ale, proper pub food, I.e. cobs, cheese, pork pie, crisps, nuts, scratchings, real cider . No music, clean loos. End of. Bet this place rocks. 5 stars is not enough.
