We booked the Hostage escape room and were thrilled with what we experienced. We were expecting a single room that we needed to excape from but it was so much better than this.

Having tried a few escape rooms in the past, Escape Asylum is up there with the best! Have completed and escaped both rooms I highly recommend hostage and also the scary room 'asylum'. Hostage is still to date the best escape room we have done - was very frustrating that we were on track for the record time until the end let us down. Overall fantastic experience

The escape asylum in leicester is AMAZING! We have done a few escape rooms, and this is our favourite to date! The effects and room set up are fantastic, the attention is detail is great. The people working at escape asylum are super friendly and very chatty. The room is difficult enough to test you, but is also achievable! Please visit, I would highly recommend! ... We escaped!!!!

What a shame, had been to a previous escape room when they were located in st martins and had a great time , So when friends suggested they wanted to do a room we didn't hesitate in booking again, Our friends had traveled an hour and a half to get there . We had booked to attend on 14th March , when we arrived we were told the booking was cancelled due to flooding and we should have had an email to let us know , (which we didn't , but why not ring when you have my phone number ) of course these things happen, they were very apologetic and offered a free drink in the bar and a full refund back to the credit card we had used to book online , and told it take 5 days for the charge to be refunded. 10 days later I emailed to chase the refund to be told that as the goverment had now forced them to close they would not be offering any refunds at all. I explained this booking was from before the closures and I was entitled to a full refund of the £84 I had paid, but none has been forthcoming

I recently visited escape asylum with a few friends and was thoroughly disappointed.

We played the hostage game the room was bare and was completely unfinished the puzzles were repetitive, everything was a key lock or either a master lock on by wall.

The first room is just bare unfinished walls with no lights. They provide a floppy piece of foam to retrieve keys from the wall.
We were supposed to have torches and only after 5 minutes of searching we saw someone roll them under the door.

The second room had exposed wires everywhere again with some cheap foam attached to the walls the lock jammed in this room and we wasted more time, we informed the host who said 'keep trying' we managed to finally open it with the code we originally used.

The final room was tight the 6 of us could hardly be stood together. The puzzles in this room really disappointed. We had to use string to make the numbers on nails but even with the correct answer you had to guess the code.

The last puzzle had to be the worst,it had no relevance to the game what so ever you had to solve random riddles and inform the host who would then give you the digits to the lock. Some of the answers were ridiculous and I'm pretty sure he just gave up and gave us the answers.

Nonetheless we escape with a few minutes to spare but it didn't feel like we'd achieved anything. I think the host made sure one way or another we'd escape.

I've played a few escape games before across England with the most recent being escape reality in leicester which I would rate the highest.

Asylum is the most expensive and doesn't deliver.

Hi Tiptonutd, I must say I find it very strange that you state you have played ‘a few escape games across England’ but your only 2 reviews are for us and our competitor in Leicester. We really hope that this is not an attempt at a malicious review as we take all our genuine reviews seriously and they are there to give a true direction to future customers. To address your points: -‘Budget escape room’- Anyone who has played our games previously will realise the amount of time and money that goes into our decoration as we aim to provide the most immersive game experiences to our customers. This is backed up by our immersive themed decoration, the immersive suspenseful music throughout our games, our themed based clue delivery systems and our customer service. We have visited every escape game company in Leicester and no other company provides this (yet). We employ a huge amount of staff, to ensure each group of players are greeted and have their own personal games master to ensure that all games will run smoothly. Associating the word Budget with Escape Asylum leads me to believe that this is a false review and malicious. -In our Hostage themed game, any decoration you see is deliberate. You have been taken hostage in an 'underground’ room which is reflected with no lights and rough walls. There are no lights by design, as the brief states: You have been taken hostage, chained up, blindfolded in the pitch black. -Exposed wires are dangerous and if this was true we would be shut down. -Our decoration throughout has had an awful lot of money spent on it and ‘the foam on the walls’ are extremely expensive sound proof tiles to replicate an MI6 safe house. -‘Locks Keys and Padlocks’- HOSTAGE is a code orientated game, that goes with the theme and the brief. Although the result to open something may be a code, the many puzzles to get to this code are extremely varied across visual, physical and sounds. Asylum is logic themed, much like a murder mystery game. Cabin is a very practical game. All our games are extremely immersive and puzzles appropriate to the brief. -‘String’ When done correctly this puzzle is extremely clear and no guessing is needed. The point of escape games are to test your intelligence. I do apologise if you did not find some of our puzzles easy but again, that is what you pay for. Furthermore our games masters do not ‘make sure you escape one way or another’ as there would be no point to the game. I hope I have addressed your concerns. In our bid to eliminate any false malicious reviews I would love to look into this further for you. If you could email your name, contact number, date and time of booking to hello@escapeasylum.co.uk I will be happy to look into this in depth. Best Regards

We booked as a group of friends from work celebrating our friends wedding. The experience was a disaster and ruined what was meant to be a fun evening.

At the time of booking, Escape Asylum were aware that there would be 14 of us coming after work (4pm) and would need be booked on a session after this time. We were assured that this would be accommodated and that they give us 10 / 15 minutes to accommodate this.

On the day of our escape session we all arrived just after 16.10 and were informed that the monies for the experience would need to be paid upfront.

It is only after this was done, we were advised one of the groups (phobia room) would no longer be able to experience the full escape session. We had explained our time limitations at the time of booking and feel that the business had miss sold the experience to us. A discussion took place with management and we were informed that we would not be entitled to a refund and nor were we allowed to rearrange for an alternative date. WHAT A CON. We had no alternative but to start the session. As we were arriving at, our guide told us we only had 35 minutes in the phobia room or we could switch to the King Richard III room instead in which we would get a full hour.

We felt pressured to make a decision.

Overall it was a disappointing experience and if you are looking to book a escape experience then use another provider.

Escape Asylum ruined our pre wedding celebrations.

Hi All, I can see that we have received multiple 1 star reviews from members of your group based on this experience. To clear things up for others thinking of booking an experience with us: - This group had booked 2 games. Games are booked in 1.5 hour time slots. Games last 1 hour, giving us 0.5 hours to reset the game and sort out any problems ready for the next customers. - This group turned up 25 minutes late! - This group then wanted to pay their remaining balance separately between 8 people, thus taking an extra 10 minutes. (even though the group booker was advised beforehand that this needed to either be done in advance or paid on 1 card, as it takes time to take payment via our virtual terminal) - We advised that because they had arrived late, time may be taken off of their 1 hour booking (as stated in all T&Cs due to this being a live event, and us having another customers booking straight after theirs) - The group leader then spent the next 15 minutes demanding a refund, to the point where we needed to call the director of Escape Asylum to advise. - The group now being 50 minutes late to start their booking, was asked multiple times to play their game, and any problems could be sorted out after. - Out of their 2 games, only 1 game would need time deducted due to only 1 room being fully booked for the rest of the evening. However the ‘leader’ of the group stopped both games playing and demanded a refund. To cut a long story sort, we moved bookings around so they could have their full hour. It really is a shame to receive a review like this as we bent over backwards for this group. You will not be getting a 14 player refund as you turned up 25 minutes late, you broke the T & Cs and you would not enter your game for 50 minutes of your 1 hour game. Thanks, Escape asylum.

Visited Escape Asylum on our visit to Leicester to do a few games in the city. On arrival (access via Spirits), our host for the experience Grant welcomed us. We made our way down into the basement level of the building and were introduced to the game, Riiitual. Once we embarked upon the escape, we found the puzzles and activities to be well constructed, with a great sense of progression felt on completion of certain elements. The clue/hint system was provided by "the ghost of Richard III" which was a smart way of ensuring consistency in the game and environment. I must say, Richard is a very friendly and witty guy in his rest! We managed to complete the game with a good chunk of time remaining, despite getting stuck on one particular puzzle which we are still kicking ourselves over!
All in all, I recommend paying a visit to Escape Asylum to play the Riiitual room. Great room, good sense of progression, smart puzzles, and really friendly staff! Thanks Grant for making the experience very enjoyable!

Mo was an excellent host, had a great time as a family group. We just missed solving the crime in time but had a lot of fun trying. Tip - use your free clues! You might just make it out in time 😱
