Great fun

The show is great fun and the hosts work really hard to ensure that everyone has a great time and feels welcome.
It's well worth a visit especially if you've never seen a drag king perform!

A fantastic venue in Blackpool. A women's bar with free entry, live entertainment, well-priced drinks, a pool table and a DJ! Highly recommend for a great night out with a difference...safe environment for women, fun and friendly atmosphere and staff and clean toilets! Great singers and Drag acts! Thanks for a great night x

Pride Weekend
Jun 2016 • Couples
Sorely disappointed with our visit here. Fantastic concept with the acts and shows, a women's bar, owned by women, run by women etc etc. But WHY were they not open Friday, Saturday and Sunday during pride weekend???? They had a totally captive audience!!
Seems we need to see this venue open more than ONCE a month!!!

Fantastic might out. The staff work really hard to give you the best experience of Drag Kings.
It doesn't take itself too seriously, the drinks are very reasonable, unlike other gay establishmens in Blackpool. One of a kind. First of its kind in the UK. The only women only bar in Blackpool. It's refreshing, it's fun. Treat yourselves to a great night out

A friendly place for an entertaining evening
Sep 2015 • Friends
Prior to visiting I had looked at their website and felt a bit put off by the statement that men were only welcome as guests. Clearly it is not legal to turn men away, but on an otherwise well written page, I found the statement unsettling. For me, the time for the lesbian separatist movement has gone. We were visiting with two make friends and didn't want to make them feel uncomfortable.

The welcome we received couldn't have been more friendly. From the door woman to others at the bar who were clearly owners/ partner to the staff and ultimately to the bar woman; everyone smiled and said hello.

There were many other positives to our evening. The drag was entertaining. Three different people in different costumes; each person could sing in tune and it was clear that each costume had been well thought out to portray the appropriate character.

The toilets were clean and the soap in there was gorgeous. This is hardly a reason to go to a bar; but it would be a reason to leave one. Once again it felt like an effort had been made.

Ultimately this is a bar and the one thing that let it down for me was the "bar". Firstly, as a wine drinker I was surprised to learn that the two white wine options were Chardonnay and "Italian white" ( the latter being the sort of wine you see on the lower/budget shelf at the supermarket). I had encountered Chardonnay in a few bars in Blackpool but not only do I really dislike it, but it seems like wine drinkers have moved on, we started with Liebfraumilch moved on to Piesporter then Chardonnay before arriving at our preferred wines. Pubs generally meet these preferences by offering the Pinot Grigio/ Chilean Sauv Blanc/ New Zealand Sauv Blanc options which most pubs offer (often with other wines). To be fair, they did have some wine by the bottle but I didn't enquire about those as I hadn't planned on staying all night.

We ended up drinking shorts all night, which was a much more expensive option than wine. A measure (I noticed the measure was not a professional measure but instead it was the same as the one I have at home in my cocktail kit!) of spirit was £2, which is probably a good deal in most places, however In another nearby bar, they sell house doubles with a mixer for £2.50. Here a double with a mixer was a £5er!! The mixers were poured from a large bottle in the fridge. I assume their fridge doesn't work well ( as most people probably know if you pour less than well chilled fizzy drinks over ice it goes flat), as our mixers weren't very fizzy all night.

It seems that this bar is set up as a vehicle for one drag king to be able to regularly perform their show and whilst the show is good and the attention to detail with the show is absolutely spot on, there is something missing. I came to try out the lesbian bar in Blackpool. For me, the entertainment was a bonus, not the focus. I hope they review their bar offerings. Why not sell cans? Why not buy mini wine bottles?

When we arrived in the bar there were a few others there but they left by 10.30-ish and I really don't think KINGS saw the footfall for a Saturday night, to sustain the business. I hope they manage to find a way to stay open. The act was entertaining and the place was comfortable and clean. It really is a good place for a pleasant night out, but please sort your bar.
