- Daryl TNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom570 contributionsWorth a visit if you are in the area and are curious about the WorldRipley's Believe It or Not is a 'museum of oddities' located as part of Blackpool's Pleasure Beach complex. Located a short tram ride away from the centre of Blackpool itself, it is ideal to visit if you are already heading up that way for Pleasure Beach or the waterpark which is located across the road and further down towards the town. We were not going to Pleasure Beach (it was too cold and wet) but we did set out to go to Ripley's as we had been there before and wanted to see if anything else had changed since our last visit. It costs £12 each and you can also purchase a guide at an additional costs which acts as a moment and gives some history behind Ripley's and some of the different exhibitions. Once you have paid, you then take yourself on a self-guided tour around the museum which is a mixture of collected items, replica cultural artefacts and uniquely collected pieces that the museum has sought out the exhibit. There are things that are interesting and quirky as well as some things that are a bit disturbing but it is quite interesting to see and learn about different cultures and lifestyles. Not much had changed since our last visit but I think it was still worth the £12 each for us both to go because it kept us out of the rain and gave us something to do for an hour. I appreciate that if you have younger children and are paying as a family, it may not necessarily provide good value because I am not sure how much younger children would benefit from the exhibits which involve a lot of reading in order to understand what you are looking at. I would recommend Ripley's for anyone who has never done it before and who is curious about life in general. Like other museums, it is self-guided and relies on your own ability to entertain yourself so if you are bored easily or, like my husband, cannot concentrate for significant periods of time, this may not be ideal for you. Overall though, we both enjoyed it. It's just a shame it is a bit out the way and it almost feels like it has been left without much care or attention.Visited October 2021Written November 7, 2021
- nicola pGlasgow, United Kingdom22 contributionsSomething different! We booked online to get a cheaper price, it cost us £5 per adult and £2.50 per child. It's a museum for the weird and wonderful, honestly some things interested me and more than half didn't. There is plenty to look at and read. They have a giant ball of string, it really is massive! The world's heaviest man, the worlds shortest and tallest people (actual sized), and much more. You learn about Ripley himself, where he went and what he discovered. There is stairs and no lift, not suitable if you have a wheelchair or mobility scooter and if you have a pram you can either lift it up the stairs or leave it at the beginning. The gift shop is large and the lady working there is very pleasant and good with the children, special recognition should be given as she goes above and beyond! There is no toilets so make sure you go before hand. We tried to take our time, spent around 90 minutes and we missed a few plaques as they weren't of much interest to us. The museum is good value for money.Visited July 2020Written July 25, 2020
- lizaanddilly88 contributionsGo to dungeons insteadVery over priced, even with my blue light card (10% discount), really thought the woman on desk was an part of the show she was so unhappy with her life/job! Was done in 30-40mins and this was taking our time. No mention of stair cases (2) which wasnt great for a older lady with a walking stick (my mum). Wouldnt bother again in all honestyVisited December 2021Traveled with familyWritten December 6, 2021
- Shannon7 contributionsBelieve it or not… you’d be better throwing money down a drain then splashing the cash in this place!Honestly save your money and go elsewhere! This place is an absolute rip off. We paid £24 for 2 adults and we were around and out in 14 minutes. We went to the desk to actually check that was it and the lady at front said how some people could manage to make it last them 30 minutes…! Outdated facts, bad flow and full of machines inside that you have to pay extra for so they are filling whole areas of ‘pay to play’ machines. To top it all off I walked to ‘see the chained man’ and was suprised by a moving platform that rolled my ankle and I was unable to walk for the rest of my holiday. Please take it from me and visit Madam Tussads, Sea Life or Blackpool Tower experience as they are far superior and only a little more to pay! You really won’t regret giving this a miss! £5 entry would be pushing it for value for money but £12 per adult is daylight robbery!Visited August 2021Traveled with friendsWritten August 3, 2021
- Emma Holmes13 contributionsMore than doubled in price with no new benefits.I have visited here over the decades and always loved it, though not much has changed and some facts are outdated. There are definitely interesting facts but most artefacts are replicas/ models to show scales or sizes of facts. It would definitely benefit more if it contained more "real" items as a museum would. Once you've been once it's not an attraction you need to keep revisiting. I could get a family of 4 in for £20 at my last visit in 2019. Now adults are £12 children are £10 (£44 is a LOT when there's so many other things you'd like to fill your day with in Blackpool). I wouldn't mind if it lasted half a day but you can walk around this incredibly quickly if you're not careful. Covid has been tough on us all but many will write this off in future if prices stay like this.Visited August 2021Traveled with familyWritten August 9, 2021
- Abberline188822 contributionsRipley's under glassUnlike literally every other Ripley's museum on the face of the planet, this one has all its exhibits behind sheets of glass. So no comparing hand size with the world's tallest man, no posing with the lizard man and no photos with the vampire woman. Is Ripley's implying that people in Florida, California, New York and Tennessee are inherently better than those in Blackpool and thus can be trusted to not paw at the exhibits like animals? A shame, because what is on display is all very fun and classic Ripley's stuff. A shame they feel that we aren't worthy of the full experience.Visited September 2020Traveled with familyWritten September 28, 2020

- belfast1Belfast, United Kingdom166 contributionsDefinitely not worth itWe added this on with our pleasure Beach tickets, £24 for 2 adults and it was finished in 20 minutes. Absolutely awful, closes at 7pm but so does the pleasure Beach so we left it at 6pm thinking the extra hour would do us to take our time in ripleys.. Definitely not by 6.19pm we were standing outside ripleys wondering why on earth we'd just wasted a last hour in the pleasure Beach on this terrible excuse of an attraction. Definitely nothing compared to others in Amsterdam etc and definitely not worth the moneyVisited August 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten August 11, 2021
- ZoeyWorcestershire, United Kingdom27 contributionsSurprising little museumThis museum is full of horrors and interesting facts, if that’s your sort of thing. There are scary mannequins and stuffed disfigured animals, and puzzles and brain teasers to keep you interested along the way. It took around 30-40 minutes to walk through it, so in that sense you’re getting your money’s worth, but it’s a lot of looking rather than doing so I can see where other reviewers are saying the price is steep. But if you like weird things, you’ll love this!Visited August 2021Traveled with friendsWritten August 17, 2021
- sfuhere753 contributionsRather fun!I thought this was well worth the seven quid entry price. We must have been in there a good hour. Sadly it was completely empty apart from us. The exhibits are many and varied, and there’s something for everyone. Things that stick in my mind are a matchstick church, a Diana portrait made entirely from penny coins (how??!) and an incredibly convincing hologram. There’s also a very clever beach display - if you like naked women you’ll like that one! I did notice quite a few spelling and grammatical errors on the displays which irritated me slightly, but let’s overlook that. Generally this was good fun and I’d recommend it. Good for kids and adults too. The bit at the end will really leave you reeling!Visited October 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten October 9, 2020

I'd visited here years ago but could remember very little about it.
This time I took my 10 year old daughter as it was one of the only things she hadn't done in Blackpool.
For the money paid (£22) I expected way more. The place was virtually empty and we were finished in around thirty minutes: as we entered the gift shop at the end my thoughts were "is that it?"
If the tickets were more realistically priced, £5 for adults £3 for kids for example, I'd probably up the rating to 3 out of 5, but at this current price its awful value for money and I'd give it a miss.

Have been visiting Blackpool for many years and always come to Ripley's every so often, even if you've seen it all before it's definitely still an interesting visit. The prices have gone up and I would now say it is slightly overpriced for what you're getting, but if you take your time and enjoy reading about everything then you're getting some of your moneys worth. Could do with some new additions as some exhibits are looking a little tired/old.

Great place for all ages with loads of interesting facts and things to see. Something for everyone over 2 fairly large floor areas. Was in there for about 1 and a half hours. The £7 adult entry is well worth it. Glad we visited after meaning to go for ages.

Out of sheer curiosity is there any way to bypass the spinning tunnel to get out of this attraction? I can see people with balance issues like myself being really scared, even if they were supported.

Yes there is a alternative route door to the side, well marked
Oh and another thing, how do you get into the place?! Do you have to pay for the pleasure beach to get into the museum or?
Thanks.

No you can enter this place without having to go to Pleasure Beach - can't remember how much admission is though but if you look on their website, it will tell you.
