A day to remember
Aug 2021 • Family
We belatedly celebrated the life of my wife’s father at the Glass house. The service, attention to detail sensitivity and care combined with a superb menu made this a truly wonderful celebration of my wife’s father.

Good For Lunch
Aug 2021 • Friends
Lunchtime visit with a friend. The eating area was busy but tables were spaced well. We ordered the sandwich and cup of soup options (prawn sandwich and hummus/roast vegetable wrap) with tomato and basil soup.
Both were served quickly and were good portion sizes. The soup was delicious. The service was equally good.
We ordered ice cream and an Eton mess for dessert alongside coffees.
For the cost, the ice cream was only of average quality and presentation.
Overall, the quality of food and service is very good. The prices are (in my opinion) a little high.

Belated 60th Birthday Treat
Jul 2021 • Friends
On Friday we visited Staining Lodge for our wonderful afternoon tea. Due to Covid we had not been able to visit earlier in the year so we were both really looking forward to visiting.
As the weather was kind we were able to sit outside and it was absolutely delightful. The food was brought out to us and explained to us before we started to eat. We started off eating the food from the savouries and sandwiches first. The pastries just absolutely melted in your mouth, absolutely scrumptious. Then moving on to the sweets we were in heaven making our way through all the cakes and scone available. Washed down with lovely cups of tea. Mind you we delayed on the tea for a while as we chose to enjoy a bottle of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc first which was a perfect choice. Thank you to the staff who were very keen and attentive all doing everything they could to ensure we had the perfect afternoon tea.

Absolutely a nightmare
Jun 2021
Went in flor father’s days , husband is a member , experienced a nightmare , put review on and husband was threatened with expulsion from golf club if I didn’t take it off , I took it off as was worried and upset for him , he's gone today and they said we are barred from food and drinks , which wasn’t a problem as hubby said he wont use again son is barred as well probably me too , son did nothing. It was me that complained, staff couldn’t do there job was abusive and swore at me ,I pushed him away as he was in my personal space . Work is not worth the money and they don’t know what they are doing

Christening party
May 2021 • Friends
The Glass house hosted our son and god daughter’s christening party and it was excellent. The afternoon teas were substantial and delicious. The young man waiting and working the bar was welcoming and attentive. All I can say in these difficult times no one could have done it better.

Afternoon tea
Oct 2020 • Friends
We’ve just recently visited the Glass House for the afternoon tea. It’s been wonderful and we couldn’t fault it at all. The decor was fantastic, food delicious and staff very polite and professional. Nothing was too much to ask. Social distancing and health and safety rules adhered to, so it made us feel very safe, especially during these strange times in the middle of the pandemic. A really great time had by all of us. I’d recommend it to anyone!

Disappointing - Customer Service Shocking
Oct 2020 • Friends
Booked 2 tables for a birthday brunch, 10 people in total 9 of which ordered the full English breakfast with various drinks. As I am a vegan I asked for beans & mushrooms on toast, but was told by the rude waiter who needs to go on a ‘customer service course’ and smile, or at least look like he’s enjoying his job!
Waiter “That’s not on the menu”
Me “I am a vegan and don’t eat eggs or jackfruit so I don’t want the vegetarian breakfast”
Waiter “you could have the pancakes”
Me “pancakes are made of eggs”, it’s ok I will have the children’s beans on toast”
Waiter “you can’t have that cause you are not under 12”
To which one of the party members said can we order 1 extra of mushrooms, beans & 2 slices of toast.
The waiter then proceeded to tell us he would sort something.
Bean on toast arrived and obviously the chef must have wanted to make a point as the 2 slices of toast where completely covered in 2 mountains of beans! No mushrooms!
Waiter was equally rude to the other members on the other table. Asked for white toast, told you can only have sourdough or brown bread!
Blinds are needed on the windows as it is increasingly uncomfortable with the sun blaring through.
PLUS SIDE - The place itself is lovely and clean with great views. Tables spaced out adhering to social distancing rules.
NEGATIVE SIDE - Food mediocre, service poor.

At a time where the hospitality industry is trying to get through this pandemic I suggest you sort out these issues as there are many places to eat and your establishment will end up a casualty of this pandemic!

Disappointing and won’t be back and won’t recommend
Sep 2020 • Friends
Visited with Friends for lunch. Ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad. This arrived , a teaspoon of dressing with 4 sliver of chicken , a few scraps of bacon. Appalling for £11 , a chef who sends this out needs some training . Took a mouthful of the chicken which was definitely off. Not something you come across very often but it happens . What preceded only added to my disappointment of the whole place . The Manager dealt with this appallingly. She told me she had eaten the chicken for lunch and it was fine ? So , accusing her customer of fabricated this up? Trust me I know off chicken, I have better things to do than send back a meal that is satisfactory. I then sat whilst it was replaced for a sandwich. So no apology and then when the bill came it hadn’t even been adjusted to the sandwich and the salad was still on it. I owned a 100 seater cafe in Lytham for 4 years . If I had treated my customers in this manner I’d have been out of business. You have a lot to learn Staining Golf Club.

I was completely reasonable about the issue with the chicken, I know sometimes these things happen in catering. What really matters , is how you put it right. Non of my friends will be returning either. In a small place like the Fylde Coast it’s important to look after people. Reputation is important! Remember that Staining Golf Course.
