I absolutely love the comedy carpet, so many memories of brilliant comedians, one liners, that 'look'. My personal favourite was "I'm sick, sick sick up to here" from the wonderful Freddie 'Parrotface' Davies who by total coincidence I'd 'rediscovered' just a few weeks previously, he's still performing, look him up on social media. Wandering the carpet was a real walk down memory lane, it was lovely to hear spontaneous laughter and comments of 'oh I remember', brilliant addition to the prom and easy to find right opposite The Tower. Seek it out and wander memory lane a while.

I spent ages here every day reading the jokes from the famous comedians who had played here and reading the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of names of all the famous entertainers over all the decades who are listed in alphabetical order. It is so nice to be reminded of such a huge array of talent and names that you had forgotten about. It is so nicely presented as there is no wear and tear and while you are reading the carpet you are also getting fresh sea air and sunlight and working up an appetite. Compared to a lot of the tat on offer here it is a lovely piece of nostalgia for the good old days and a fitting memorial to all the great artists and comedians and it costs nothing to visit, reminds you that some entertainers and actors had genuine talent and doesn't clog your arteries! If I visit Blackpool again this is what I look forward to the most. They've put a wind break screen across the seafront in front of the carpet which is a real shame as it blocks the sea view but maybe it is just a winter thing. People cycle over the carpet on their way to other places, it's a real working permanent memorial and something to cherish compared to all the terrible unmaintained sad decay all around you in fading Blackpool.

It was really interesting reading the Comedy Carpet brought memories of watching some of the great entertainers I used to watch with my mum. I feel that something like this is important so our children and grandchildren can see what kept us amused when we were small. I would recommend that anyone visiting Blackpool should take time to read it.

It's a great idea and design, filled with great one liners, speeches and gags.
Unfortunately we couldn't really read it all as the place was over run by kids (and some adults) on skateboards and scooters, flying around being a general pain in the backside. Shame, you'd think the council (or whoever looks after it) would do something about it as it's spoiling it for those who want to enjoy it and spend time reading it.

With the refurbishment of the promenade came the Comedy carpet.

It has the names of comedians and comedy actors. Some of them played in Blackpool.

There are catchphrases and jokes.

However it relies heavily on nostalgia. Take it this way, my kids would look at some of the names, shrug their shoulders and move on.

We happened across this tiled floor of dated jokes by chance and unfortunately it didn't really amuse or delight. I think it is perhaps for elder folk who can fondly remember the comedians in their heyday, but for me a lot of the jokes are really quite outdated and a little simple "Can you call me a cab Stan? Ok, you're a cab".

The design fonts they chose were fairly visually pleasing, and it looked more exciting than plain tarmac. Worth a wander over if you're passing through and is perhaps more relevant if you're up to scratch on comedy acts from the 1960's.

We came across the comedy carpet as we strolled along the promenade . It’s obviously popular as there were a lot of people on it , walking about reading all the jokes . We should have allocated a bit more time so that we could have read it all ( it is rather large ) .. worth a bit of your time especially if your of a particular age .

Do go and take a look at Blackpools Comedy Carpet. You get a great birds eye view of it from the top of the Tower! It's a fabulous idea and fits in perfectly with the British seaside and sense of humour from stars from way back when to the present day. Myself, hubby and daughter spent quite some time picking out famous names and reading and laughing out loud many of the quotes and catchphrases we know and love. I do have to agree with some of the reviews on here about skateboarders and cyclists though. Although we were not bothered by them, perhaps the youngsters have taken it to be a bit of a playground area which might put some people off spending time here.

Most of us have a comedy sitcom or comedian that stays with them , and we spent a very happy time here finding our faves. Love the quirky nature of the attraction, very aptly situated on the mile. If you don’t come away smiling and taking a trip down memory Lane when your type of comedy was in vogue maybe Blackpool isn’t for you !
We loved it

Spent a fun 15 minutes reading all the classics and explaining to the teenagers who all the old dinosaurs were. It's interesting to see that each generation seems to have a completely different sense of humour. It seems that not much comedy can stand the test of time.
