The Great Prom show was originally a series of art installations built around 20 years ago along South promenade from The Sandcastle to Starr Gate. It is getting worse and worse each year. More so now that they have removed the high tide organ which was my favourite piece. Other than the giant mirror ball which has been recently done, all the art installations could do with a huge refurb. Why they are still advertising it on the visit blackpool website is beyond me. All pieces seem to have been uncared for since they were put in and the ravage of the wind, rain and salty sea air have mean most are damaged or not working, and now a few pieces are no longer even there but yet still advertised. Baffling.

We have visited here several times over the past 12 months. Have to say that Blackpool has really improved in lots of ways. They have put alot of money into reginerating the area especially the promenade area. You can walk for miles north to south along it. Much cleaner than it used to be. Much safer now that the beach is automatically chained off to access if the weather is bad and the see is rough. We went Friday to watch the wonderful Blackpool Fireworks from here.

Really good Prom with all the sculptures and improvements. Very easy to walk or cycle or skate / skate board along (as our kids proved). Excellent activity for all ages, and especially good on a sunny day.

Excellent promenade to come and have a walk along. When the tide is in, its great to watch the waves. The tower will catch your eye and the three piers.

I think the Blackpool promenade is so under-rated! It's absolutely brill, and the Spanish Steps are anything as good as you see in Spain, actually if not better! The promenade is on 2 layers so plenty of room to walk along in these Co-Vid 19 self-distancing times.

There are interesting features and sculptures at various points along from south of South Pier to north of North Pier to stop and look at. I am a saunterer, sort of letting the wind buffet me along, so I can easily take 30 mins from south of South Pier to Central Pier, or about 40 -45 to reach north of North Pier. I follow the Spanish Steps so taking the more twisty, windy route. It's a brilliant walk. It's bracing and the best of Blackpool.

The Great Promenade Show is a series of outdoor installations located along the promenade in between the Sandcastle Waterpark and Starr Gate. I always like to come and have a look along here, but I am noticing now that it does not seem to be maintained and one small sculpture is missing. There are a few sculptures that should contain lights (Glam Rocks and The Frankenstein Project) but these no longer work. There are between 10 and 20 different sculptures and my favourites are the Giant Disco ball (named: They shoot horses don’t they?) and the High Tide Organ. The high tide organ will play at high tide, as there are pipes leading down into the seawall - the sea pushes air into the pipes and the organ plays. It really is the sound of the sea, I love it! I think some of these sculptures have been in place for around 10 years so they are starting to look their age. If all the pieces of art were in good working order I’d be inclined to give them 4 or even 5 out of 5, but currently I can only give a 3. It is still worth a look along to see them all though and to walk through from start to finish would take about ½ an hour. I hope the council takes notice and brings them back up to scratch for future visitors as when all are in fully working order, I think they are brilliant.

Walking along the promenade you are struck by the cool installations that add interest to this most beautiful of walks .
There certainly hard to miss as most are huge ,I walked the length of the Blackpool Promenade and thought they looked marvellous but to me the best views were from North Pier were you can take in the full vista of the beach, tower and installations, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning to visit Blackpool.

Regular basis I can be seen power walking from Star Gate to Manchester Square and return which takes me about an hour. Level surface and a mixture of scenery, with the Irish Sea to the west, the piers, pleasure beach, tramways, hotels, guesthouses, bars, restaurants and cafes!
