Brockhole on Windermere offers activities to suit everyone, from toddlers to adventure seekers to those in search of an ultra-relaxing experience whilst enjoying their time in the Lake District. It's all here in one place, set against stunning mountain views on the shores of Windermere in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. From family activities to glorious garden tours and seasonal events, there really is something for all ages. Why not explore 30 acres of beautiful historical gardens and grounds? Or picnic by the lakeshore and enjoy secret beaches with the family? If the children are feeling more adventurous they can swing or bounce through ancient woodland on Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets. Down by the lakeshore, you can hire kayaks and rowing boats, enjoy or catch the cruise boat across the lake, depending on the season. There's also archery, bike hire and mini golf on offer during the season. Don't forget to finish your day by taking in the stunning lake views offering stunning views towards the distant Langdale Pikes at the terrace café, while enjoying local ales and dishes. There's also a well-stocked gift shop and ever changing exhibition space to enjoy indoors.

Never been before views of lakes and walks are great, we sat and had coffee looking at fabulous views, great place for walls and plenty for children to do.

Myself and my partner booked to go on the Treetop Trek and Boating at quite short notice. The staff were brilliant, we loved the tree top trekking - although my partner was braver than me and whizzed through it. They were friendly and made the experience really enjoyable and even let us go on the zip wire twice. The man... More

Great place for families, We did a round of miniature golf, took a stroll around the gardens, and did the tree top trek which is a obstacle course set in the trees. Super Fun. Especially the zip line.

As usual for the lakes busy in August and expensive parking. Kids love the play area and will spend hours there, grounds great for picnics and room to play. Buggy friendly route signs could be better. Cafe prices reasonable although only had drinks. Kids and dad did nets run by separate company - v expensive but it was a treat.... More

Many thanks for your review and I was pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit. As you say, Tree Top Nets is run by one of our partner companies, but I will pass on your comments to them. Thank you for your feedback on signage for the buggy route too, which we will certainly review. I hope you enjoyed the... More

We travelled for an hour to get here specifically for the adventure playground and the treetop top nets only to find out they were both closed. Poor show!

Thank you very much for your review and I was sorry to hear about your disappointment. We did indeed temporarily close the adventure playground recently in order to install some new play equipment. We placed advisory information on our website, our staff gave information to telephone callers, and we had notices on site, but I am sorry this did not... More

Having not visited for a year or so we thought it would be a nice place to show our sons girlfriend around. Parking is plentiful and easy to pay for as they have number plate recognition and you pay on the way out. Great if you decide to take part in one of the many activities available. The tree top... Thank you very much indeed for your review and it was good to hear that you enjoyed your visit. Tree Top Trek and Tree Top Nets (which are chargeable) are in fact operated by one of our commercial partners and is not our adventure playground, we have an adventure playground that is free to access in the grounds. I was... More

Lovely for entertaining kids on a sunny day, play area is great, small soft play room in the house for babies and toddlers. The nets and tree top treck are a bit pricey though.

Many thanks for your review! It was good to hear that you enjoyed the soft play area and as you say Brockhole is certainly lovely on a sunny day. Tree Top Trek and Tree Top Nets are chargeable, and are operated by one of our commercial partners who set their own charges, but we do have a separate adventure playground... More

Brockhole is a strange thing. It is a large area full of different activities and (what we didn't know) is an ideal place to take a picnic for the day while the kids run around or play football or get involved in the activities onsite. Both our kids (15 and 9) went of the treetop trek. As it wasn't available... More

Be very wary of the car parking! I passed a sign that said car park full, only to be told by the attendants that I was allowed to park as I had a pre booked activity. Took this to mean included and was hit with a £50 penalty. Don't bother appealing you will get a 'standard' response along the lines... More

Many thanks for taking the time to send us your review. During peak season times we manage our car park using stewards and prioritise a few parking spaces for those who have pre-booked activities on site. The car park full signs which we put out when all the spaces are taken, state "except for pre-booked activities" to reflect this policy.... More

Lovely walk around brockhole, this place is ideal for a stroll and a picnic and its pushchair and dog friendly. If you fancy a trip to wray castle for some extra activities you can also get the ferry over
