Probably the best view of the Lake District without needing boots and a rucksack. A short climb from the bus and railway station, about 20 minutes, and you are presented with a sublime vista of lake and mountains. There is a plan of the view so you can know what you are looking at. A great place for photos or... More

If you are in Windermere you must make the short walk to the top of Orrest Head. The view from the top is amazing and the effort required is minimal for a person with average fitness. If you want to make it easy there is a road going 90% of the way up (but no you can't drive it) but... More

It's nice walking up the slope to reach Orrest Head, where you can get marvelous views of Windermere. We saw a horse and a donkey on our way down. We are surprised when we learnt from the local that naughty donkey do slip out of the farm and take a stroll down lake. We further confirm this piece of interesting... More

We stayed local and were looking for a nice simple walk with views to die for. The walk up is easy enough and a good way to build up an appetite. After a small hike to the top we were lucky enough to have a brake in the weather. What wonderful views from the top. You won't be disappointed

A gentle 15 minute stroll out of the top of windermere takes you to one of the finest views in the lakes without having to hike to the top of any fells. I recommend a pre-brrakfast visit if you want to capture the morning mists in the valley below. Highly recommended!

Stunning views! Well worth the 15 or so minute climb up. It's not a difficult climb, I think it'd be suitable for most abilities. The view is just incredible. We went on a misty day but it still looked beautiful.

After a 30-min walk from the lake you end up at the Windermere Hotel. After taking a left now you can see a sign. You follow it and it'll take you up the hill. Fall was the best season to admire this attraction while walking in the golden forest. Once on the top; the view of the misty lake is... More
