A beautiful walk leading to a hilltop overlooking Windermere, fantastic views of Lake Windermere. Then descending through the fields following the footpath, with sheep grazing everywhere. Although it is a bit tough, it is an enjoyable and relaxing walk which one must do if visiting Windermere.

We had a good walk/hike up, very peaceful. Then when we arrived at the top, which isn't very large there were multiple school trips happening with loud young children running around. Ruined the experience but still had some lovely views and photos. We on a weekday in the middle of the afternoon.

Quite easy to find the start with well signed lanes and paths, a little less clear if you take the circular route to return across the fields but the is often other walkers doing it in reverse to confirm your directs

Its a long hard walk to get to the summit but the views of the lake and the surrounding countryside are well worth the effort.

This is one of the easy fells you can walk, so a good one to start with. I understand it was the first fell Wainwright walked, so it was mine as well. Easily done in an hour, or less, depending on how fast you walk. A path most of the way with a steady, (not too steep) slope. Most families... More

Writing this review whilst sat at Orrest Head. Stunningly beautiful, really lucky to be here on a sunny day with a welcome light breeze. Lots of gorgeous views of Windermere! Well worth the walk to get here, wear suitable footwear though!

We walked up to orrest head at 10am on a Saturday morning which was definitely a mistake, the views are lovely but it was hard to get a good photo without another tourist walking in front of the camera, very very busy! The walk up is a lovely forest path and just the right gradient

Spectacular 360 degree views - really pleased to have purchased the map from Tourist info which had a wonderful circuit took a couple of hours - perfect timing for lunch after. Really loved it.
