We followed a fantastic walk up the narrrow road, past Rydal Water, to the fabulous cave (we loved the stepping stones and watching the fish in the water) then up the hill behind to the top. We had fantastic views of Rydal Water and Grasmere...More

Lovely walk around the lake, with spectacular caves to visit along the way, and plenty of fun to be had skipping stones further round. If only the route wasn’t littered with dog mess bags literally every hundred yards or so. It’s really depressing to think...More

We parked in the Stock Lane car park in Grasmere and did a 6 mile circular walk around Rydal Water and Grasmere. Easy to follow walk and not too strenuous - a bit uphill from Grasmere to Rydal but nothing too bad. There are places...More

Such a beautiful place! However, completely ruined when we returned home to find a car park charge on my doorstep. I was absolutely livid. Luckily my friends bank statement showed the cost taken out on the 17th Jan for white moss car park so the...More

Rydal water is a lovely place to visit for a fairly easy walk to get some fantastic views. Parking is just over a little bridge, then follow up the path, past a couple of quaint houses and around a bend. As you walk onwards the...More

This made a lovely walk, starting at Grasmere, walking up onto a hillside path towards Rydal Water, stopped off at the cave which was really interesting as you could walk inside it on stepping stones and there were little fish, dropped back down to walk...More

Rydal Water is a very, very special and tiny gem within the crown of the Lake District. It's surrounded by beautiful, awe-inspiring fells and rugged crags, which take your breath away, whether they are bright summer green against a cloudless sky, wrapped in autumn russet...More

The two closest ones are White moss car park and Pelter bridge car park and you have to pay at both.

Yes there are stepping stones into the biggest cave. The other one requires climbing with a rope.

Hi, I am currently being chased by Park with Ease for a £50 parking fine. They claim I did not pay for parking, however I deposited my cash into the machine TWICE and on both occasions the machine took my payment and would not allow me to proceed to the stage where I could enter my registration. I spent about 20 minutes at the machine wth my family, attempting to contact / find a contact from the signage and repay (although I refused to deposit any more cash). I was so exasperated that I even filmed myself trying to make the payment and the machine not allowing me enter my Car registration. However, after not hearing anything for over 6 months I regretably deleted the video- only to receive a parking fine a couple of weeks later. I can not retrieve the video from my phone and am very angry about being pursued for 'lack of payment' when I actually paid twice. I am currently appealing the case with the IPC but am not hopeful. Does anybody have any up to date photographs of the actual car park signage on White Moss car park on Rydal Water? This incident has certainly put me off ever parking on this car park again and given the amount of complaints about Park with Ease (Administrators of the car park) that I have seen on the internet I think the appropriate council for the area containing Rydal Water, should investigate the poor running of the car park, to protect the visitors from scammers!
