We just walked around for a while trying to find a place to have dinner. Turned out to be an extremely difficult job to do as every place is booked for the duration of the half term, especially with Covid measures in place in most places. Add to that the crowds on the streets, it's tough to follow social distancing guidelines. Trying unsuccessfully to get a table for lunch or dinner has been a highlight of our trip to Lake District this half term. Lots of shops if you are interested, and lots of eateries, but you have to book ahead plenty or visit after the half term or on weekdays.

A plethora of shops, cafes, restaurants and an art gallery. A Co-op, a Tesco Express and a Sainsbury's! Spent a lovely couple of hours here.
I would have given 5 stars had the public toilets not had a 50p charge to use them! These are the most expensive public toilets I have ever come across!

We stayed in a small cottage at the top of the high street. We had access to a great range of shops, great restaurants and a nice easy walk to Bowness and the lake. We didn’t have the best of weather but the area is still really good and we all enjoyed ourselves during the visit!

Lovely little town. Lots of nice little pubs and cafes. Lake is gorgeous with some nice trips to do. Beatrix Potter mususem is a lovely. Traditional fish and chips along the lake was lovely.

This is such a beautiful town, with many kind people and snug little buildings. I could go as far to say that this is my favorite town I have ever been to. The butchers shop has very high quality meat, and the sweet shop just up the road has INCREDIBLE ice cream. 100% recommend.

Lovely high street full of a variety of shops and plenty of restaurants.
Stayed in Windermere for 2 nights at The Cottage, a stones throw from the high street.
It was a pleasant surprise to walk down the high street and see so many shops including gift shops, galleries, a launderette, Boots, lots of places to eat including Chinese, Mexican, pub grub and more.

We are staying in a holiday let just off the front street and it’s so good to have all of the facilities within a stones throw.
There’s a booths supermarket for a ‘proper shop’ and a cooperative and Sainsbury’s for convenience items.
The high street itself has plenty of eateries and shops to browse and a few art galleries.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Will be back.

If this is meant to be literally the street named High Street, then there’s very little to see. If it’s meant to be the two main shopping streets in Windermere, then it’s a nice quaint shopping area with lots of local shops and it does have a local village, albeit touristy feel. If you’re visiting or staying in Windermere, then the shopping area is hard to miss, otherwise I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it.

We stayed just a few minutes walk from the high street, so it was nice to be able to walk to the shops to buy our groceries. Good little selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

THe usual group of expensive tourist based shops that you would expect to find in a town like this .
Many high street shops retail at double or even more from the prices you find in large towns / citties ie Manchester/Liverpool.
Keep your money in your pocket I would say and I have even less respect for the kebab -burger joints that ruin the character of the place.
Watched two polish guys for ages on a weekday continually pouring vodka down each others throats till they fell over for around an hour and a half they also pulled a waterpipe off the wall of a local shop and were rolling around in the pouring rain smashing bottles of vodka , just to inform you lot there is new entertainment available too watch now , till brexit at least

I will be having approx 50 people going to visit Wndermere in Sept 2019, some of my passengers will have walking frames + 2 with mobility scooters, are the pavements wide enough for these items
Written March 30, 2019
The streets and sidewalks are quite narrow in the town itself. The lakeside is good for wheelchairs and walking frames.
Written April 2, 2019
Parking in or around the actual street is never easy. Better to drive through the town to the Lakeside where there are a couple of bigger car parks and walk back.

Hi is there an outdoor shop like Cotswolds or Millets in Windermere? Thanks.
