Beatrix Potter's Half Day Lake District Tour Including Lake Cruise

123 reviews
Literature lovers will find a lot to interest them in the Lake District, including Hill Top Farm, home to beloved children's book author Beatrix Potter. Admire the landscapes and gardens that inspired her memorable illustrations, and later visit Hawkeshead, where Romantic poet William Wordsworth went to school. This tour also includes a cruise on spectacular Lake Windermere.

We stayed just a few minutes walk from the high street, so it was nice to be able to walk to the shops to buy our groceries. Good little selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

We are staying in a holiday let just off the front street and it’s so good to have all of the facilities within a stones throw. There’s a booths supermarket for a ‘proper shop’ and a cooperative and Sainsbury’s for convenience items. The high street itself has plenty of eateries and shops to browse and a few art galleries. Really enjoyed our stay here. Will be back.

Great little high street with good mix of shops, cafes, restaurants etc but parking can be difficult due to the number of visitors. Go early or late to avoid the crowds and it will make the visit a little more enjoyable.

A plethora of shops, cafes, restaurants and an art gallery. A Co-op, a Tesco Express and a Sainsbury's! Spent a lovely couple of hours here. I would have given 5 stars had the public toilets not had a 50p charge to use them! These are the most expensive public toilets I have ever come across!

We stayed in a small cottage at the top of the high street. We had access to a great range of shops, great restaurants and a nice easy walk to Bowness and the lake. We didn’t have the best of weather but the area is still really good and we all enjoyed ourselves during the visit!
