Lake District Adventure Sightseeing Day Trip from Liverpool

38 reviews
Getting to and around the Lake District from Liverpool alone means relying on hire cars, or trains and buses. Skip the effort with a day trip that makes everything smooth and easy, and showcases some of the region’s highlights and under-the-radar sights. Explore Ambleside, hike around Blea Tarn, see Castlerigg Stone Circle, and enjoy an optional Lake Windermere cruise (own cost), all without any worries detracting from the scenery.

Unbelievable range of plants in a stunning setting. Less like walking around a garden centre than around an old Italian, beautifully designed yet causally rambling garden. Super knowledgeable abd friendly staff. It's big, so go early and spend the day if you can. Lovely vegetarian food even if the cafe is a quite small. Booking best.

Well worth searching out if you are in the Penrith area, the Nurseries sets a standard which others could follow, with the creative intertwining of sculpture and other features along with the plants and shrubs, all for sale. Part of a complex including the excellent Red Gallery (also not to be missed), and a popular restaurant, there are separate entrances and exits to assist with social distancing. There are also private gardens open at certain times during the summer, and some day I hope to return to visit these. There is a car park over the road and everyone we spoke to was very helpful and friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Fabulous little cafe serving quality food and drinks, some tables on the verandah offering great views. It does get busy so probably best to book beforehand. The garden centre is also superb, with a massive amount of plants to purchase and extensive gardens to admire. As an added bonus, there is also a lovely gift shop on site. Definitely, a great place to spend a couple of hours or so.

The restaurant looks like something out of Spain or Italy - beautiful wisteria terrace with views over the landscape below. Great food, great service. Covid measures (1-way system). Enjoyed a lovely ricotta and spinach tart with a glass of wine and then treat of a cake and latte! All main dishes can be sized for kids (much appreciated and quite unusual to find these days) - home-made pizza went down a treat. Really unusual nursery- a million miles away from a chain-garden centre. It just keeps going with more and more places and bits to explore - our 5YO enjoyed exploring while I looked at the plants! Quite an eccentric place, with a plethora of statues dotted everywhere throughout!Could have spent longer.
