Wonderful experience, it was the cashier's first day, she was so friendly and polite, as were all the staff. Couldn't recommend it more!

After a week swimming in some of the lake districts larger lakes we decided to have a swim in Shap pool, although it is small compared to any normal pool it is really well maintained and is lovely and clean, it can get a bit busy at times but to swim outdoors in a safe atmosphere is really nice and with a blue sky you can't get much better, a real gem hidden in a small village, we can recommend Shap Chippy for dinner as well !!!!!

It said on notice board open mid May but not open on sat at 3pm ( signs of when) tried web site no reply either. Loved the idea and planned visit to coincide with my visit to Windermere as. Love outside lidos. Better communication online or outside would help people plan a visit. Will try again perhaps next month!

After a five hour drive on the M6 we were glad to see Junction 39 and to know that Shap Swimming Pool was only a short drive away. The temperature reading in the car said 10 degrees C but the pool itself was mid twenties - lovely. As it was just gone 4 p.m. on the Friday leading into a Bank Holiday weekend we were the only ones in the pool, perhaps the weather had put people off. It was novel to watch the dark clouds roll over the hills from this outside pool - being exposed to the elements is generally reserved for overseas holidays. Our dip cost us £4 each, lockers were £1 (refundable) and a hot shower in the changing room costs 20p for 2 minutes. It was good to work off the tea and cake we'd had at Tebay Services and also support this community venture.

What a fabulous find! Thought it might be a little cold being outdoors, but once in the pool lovely and warm. Life guards the best, not whistle happy and interacted with everyone. Tea’s,coffee’s and hot chocolate all served in “proper” mugs, none of this plastic takeaway stuff!! We also brought our own picnic. Lots of chairs for us non swimmers to sit and watch or just take in the sun. We did bring blankets just in case!! It was that good, our children stayed in the water for, four hours!! THANKYOU for a lovely day.
