Even though it wasn’t the best of days I took my partner to experience the view of this iconic bridge with Derwentwater in the background. The stream was flowing fast on a very wet day so it was quite eerily noisy. We will return in nicer, sunny weather for a photo comparison.

I visited here as part of a tour.
It was great to see, and great for a photo opportunity. It was raining, but this did not deter people from visiting. There was even an artist drawing the bridge under an umbrella etc.
There was a very small car park.
Be careful, as it is very slippy. I saw some people jumping from one side to another with no luck.

Walked from Great Wood car park to this iconic much photographed old bridge.

Quite busy, can get a good photo with patience.

Have visited here several times over the last 35 years, always rewards a re-visit.
Next time we will park here and take the walk up to (don't tell everyone) the wonderful secret (and signposted) Surprise view

When you see this bridge in person, you understand why it is such a famous spot! A very beautiful spot and worth a visit. You can walk to it from the Ashness boat stop (about 10 minutes from the Keswick dock if you take the clockwise loop) - it’s a pretty steadily steep walk that took about 30 minutes. It’s not a hiking path, but a small paved road that cars do come down - no real shoulder to go on if you hear a car coming, but the cars were generally respectful when they saw you and would slow down or pull over. But you do need to be aware and listening as they can sneak up on you.

Worth going the extra 30 minutes up the same small road to Surprise View - again, a steep walk, but worth the second amazing view!

I usually go over to England every other year. My friend and his lovely wife live in Carlisle. When I'm there visiting with my friends, I always ask my friend to take me to Ashness Bridge. There is something there that keeps drawing me back to see the Bridge. I guess I've been there at least a dozen or more times. It is certainly worth the trip and the time. Absolutely beautiful!

The car park nearest the bridge is quite a walk, park then walk up a hill.
The Bridge is surrounded by scenic and quiet landscapes and many people were simply sitting there resting and having a tea.
The lower area of the bridge is flatter and then you walk over the narrow bridge.
At the top area are boulders and plenty of photographic opportunities.

Best visited in the morning with early light on a clear day. Take a tripod for long exposure flowing water. ps - the bridge is deceptively small. Parking close at hand.

Breathtaking views, its ideal for taking photos. Lovely to sit on the rocks.

There is a car park at the bottom, and you can walk up, or you can take your car up the 600yards or so, to the bridge and cross the bridge, and park there. ÂŁ1 for 30 mins.
There are no toliets here at all.
The bridge is very narrow.

Well worth seeing.

We went late afternoon, and apart from 2 other ppl, we had the place to ourselves

We visit here every time we are in the Lake District. The children have loved playing in the stream and under the bridge. Very scenic, with stunning views. Surprise View and Watendlath tea room with the cheeky finches worth a visit too.

One of this places where you cannot fail to get a great photo and probably one of the most photographed bridges in the uk. A short drive or hike up from derwentwater and well worth taking time to do. The whole area is beautiful and the bridge is definitely the calendar shot you are looking for.
