After spending a busy morning in Keswick, we decided to call at the Gallery for lunch after reading the good reviews on Trip Advisor. Though away from the main road, up a very narrow lane with a small car park, it is well worth a visit to see the wide range of top quality art work for sale. We thoroughly... More

Thornthwaite has a forest and a dingly dell river to explore by quiet footpaths. Off the main Keswick to Cockermouth bypass lies a coffee cum art gallery par excellence. I have spent many an hour examining the upmarket furniture and art ideas on show whilst sitting with a cake and coffee at this halfway point on a route from braithwaite... More

I went to this lovely little cafe last summer on my way back from a walk in Whinlatter forest. I only ordered a coffee and a scone but it was really nice. I sat outside as it was nice weather and I was quite muddy. I was the only one in the cafe as well so it lacked atmosphere, but... More

The Gallery is tucked away but well worth finding. The art & craft exhibits are of the very highest quality. I especially like the jewellery which is beautiful. An added bonus is a small cafe serving delicious coffee & snacks.

Strictly speaking a couple of miles outside Keswick but well worth a visit with car parking available. A veritable Aladdin's cave of pictures, prints, sculpture, jewellery and other gift ideas at affordable prices. Also includes a very pleasant tea room. Visited with my wife and ended up buying three or four items and enjoying a nice pot of coffee and... More

Although the gallery was not officially open for business, we were made very welcome had a mooch around at the displays, a chat with the knowledgeable staff and chose a lovely gift. Would love to go back and sample the cakes next time we are in the area.

It's a shame that some people are put off because they think an art gallery is going to be 'posh' or intimidating or expensive. Absolutely not. They looked after our party of dripping-wet walkers perfectly, gave us pretty china and delicious cakes.

Aladdin's Cave had no greater treasures than the beautiful Thornthwaite Gallery! Filled with marvelous gifts, treats and trinkets - every one unique, nothing mass produced but products from local artists and craft-gifted members of the locality. From greeting cards to the most amazing carvings, hand crafted jewellery and pottery and of course magnificent pieces of art work featuring the Lakes.... More

A nice place to stop off, albeit slightly off the main road. Some lovely hand crafted pieces from local artists, also a very nice little coffee shop, with extremely nice cakes,
