We visited the slate mine after being told how good it was. There is a guided tour of the mine and the gift shop is superb, selling everything made of slate you could imagine.

Fantastic 3 hours. Quite tough unless you are super fit. We had never climbed and are over 50. Great instructor who was very supportive. Great way to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary!!

We did not do a tour of the mine as we stopped for a break on a long walk. The food was good and it was nice to be able to go in with boots and rucksack on. A very pleasant stop. The shop has lots of slate products but I did not buy any, I was not putting slate... More

Pay for parking then you can either have a good mountain walk, have coffee and food, do a bit of shopping. They have mine tour, via feratta experience and sell locally made items or things made on sight.

The Honistor Slate mine tour lasted just over an hour and a half with an historical introduction talk and video at the start then the underground visit inside the impressive slate mine itself. The guide was very good giving the right amount of information, stressing the importance of slate mining to Cumberland in the past, and keeping the talk quite... More

Absolutely brilliant experience. Not for the faint hearted though! An excellent variety of ladders, iron rungs and bridges following an old mine cart route. The guides were very informative and professional. 10/10 must visit

Terrifying!!! It was a great experience, not for the faint hearted. You need good climbing skills to do this. Tips: wear good shoes and trousers. Don't wear gloves, take some jelly babies in your pocket, when I clipping on the side of the cliff side put your arm through the metal rings. I'm not sure I'd feel comfy doing this... More

We went on the Kimberly mine tour, it was thoroughly enjoyable. A really easy walk suitable for young and old. Totally worth the money, very impressed with what they have done with the mine. A lovely drive to get to the mine as well.
