Excellent, Great Value Farm Park Caravanning Site
May 2021 • Family
Lakeland Maze Farm Park/Reines Hall

Access

We traveled from Halifax and took the M62/M61/M6/A590/A65. It’s important if coming North that you approach the site from the East via the A65 (M6 Jon 36)
From the A65 the access road to the site is pretty much a single track for a mile until you get to the site. There are passing places for traffic but meet another caravan and it could be tricky.
Although we went on a bank holiday weekend when the park was busy and we only met a couple of cars who made way for us.

Location

The site is part of the Lakeland Maze Farm Park. We spent the £30 family ticket (2+2) which allowed us access for our entire stay (4 nights). The farm park includes a playground, inflatables, go karts, tractor ride and animal barns. It’s good value.
The newest main town is Kendal, just 10min drive away. A pleasant town with a nice river running through. It’s also just 20 mins to Bowness/Windermere with multiple attractions. There are also National Trist sites nearby.

Pitch

The pitch price of £25 p/n included EHU. The pitch was gravel with adjacent grass section. The pitches vary in how level they are. Pitch 5 was tight in size and we had jockey wheel at full extension to get close to level. There is a grass field as well for kids to run around in.
The Drinking water, waste water and elsan point are behind a wall behind the pitches so close by, but the walkway between pitch 2 and 3 could be annoying.

Facilities

The toilet block is part of the Visitor Attraction but still only a minutes walk away. There is a male, female and accessible facility which includes the only shower. This is shared with visitors in opening hours. The only complaint was the complete failure of the toilet to flush anything away, tissue of otherwise!
There was no internet for the pitches, but the farm has free WiFi when in there.
The 4G mobile signal for us using EE was good and never had a slow moment.

There is no bar on site, but food is available as part of the visitor at ration during opening hours.

Supporting information

Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and during the stay.

Conclusion

Pitch 5 was a bit of a faff. Not a great outlook and a bit tight to get the van in. However, saying that we had a terrific time. Our two girls got on great with the three kids in the next door van. A couple of hours at the farm park, dinner and then out for adventure in The Lakes. I even slept for 10 hours one night I was so chilled.
We would certainly recommend and will certainly be returning visitors.

Nice morning out
Apr 2021 • Family
Good day out - better for older kiddies though.
We took our 7m old, and although he enjoyed seeing the animals that was kind of all there was to do. The next tractor ride wasn’t for 2 hours!
Loads and loads to do for older kids though, so will come back when little one is a bit older. Overall a nice trip though.

Visited last week & has a great time. Maze was fab, even for two women in their 30’s and no kids! Loved seeing the animals too.

Great family day out!
Aug 2020
Visited in August 2020. Straightforward online booking (although a bit lengthy) and cost £32 for a family of 4. We have two boys aged 12 and 5 so it's good to find somewhere that will interest both of them.

Lots of attractions
- Animal petting
- Animal feeding
- Go karts (indoors and outdoors)
- Panel maze
- Tractor rides
- Pedal toy area
- Outdoor play area (including trampolines, bouncy slide, climbing frame etc)

And of course the maze!
There is a mini maize, and the main one. The main one takes around an hour- make sure you have the map with you so you don't get lost. It was a bit muddy underfoot so make sure you have good walking shoes or wellies with a good grip. They have a flag system so if you have a genuine emergency an attendant will come find you to get you out.

The indoor play area is closed due to covid at present.

Plenty of hand washing stations all around. Reasonable amount of under cover tables to eat at. We bought 3 ice creams, a chocolate bar and a drink for around £8, which is pretty reasonable for a tourist attraction (loved the double jersey icecream!).

It rained on and off for most of the time we were there, but there is plenty to do undercover without this being a major issue.

Timed entry and a one way system with floor marking and signage to reinforce social distancing, and masks expected for all indoor areas. Not over booked so we were happy with the level of distancing throughout.

We spent around 3-4 hours there, and possibly could have stayed longer. Thoroughly enjoyable day and will probably visit again next year when they have a new design for the maze.

Ok for a farm park
Jul 2020 • Family
This is a great place for young children who want to get up close to animals. They will also enjoy the tractor ride and mini maze. There are much better farm parks out there hence average rating.

Needs a little investment
Aug 2020 • Family
We enjoyed the mazie, bit simple compared with others we have done. Friendly staff. Food was over priced and poor quality. Kids enjoyed go karts. The small animal encloses needs a refit and massive deep clean. Looks very tatty and uninviting. Saying that animals all look in good condition. Noticed whole place looks untidy. Could do with a massive declutter and tidy up. Esp get rid of tatty plastic. Painting walls in barns would brighten things up. This place has so much potential but needs a little investment.

Hello, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Our mazes this year had to be simpler in design to make them COVID-19 safe as part of our risk assessment, so the design has no dead ends, the bridges were removed and the puzzle simplified slightly with safety in mind. Our animal areas are all fully deep cleaned once a month, with daily and weekly spot cleans for each pen as well. We have done our best to reopen in these challenging times and thank you for your honest feedback. We hope you will visit again in the future.

Great day out
Aug 2020 • Family
Really good day out. Our 2 year old loved the whole experience. The playground there is well maintained.

There are two mazes, a small one for the younger children to participate in and then a larger one.

Lots of fun
Aug 2020 • Couples
If you want to get into the maze, you need to enter the maze by 4:30. It can take up to 90 minutes for you to complete the maze. We had lots of fun doing it, we were in a group of
4 adults. So it’s fun for adults and children alike!
