This is a really interesting little museum, well laid out, with a fascinating Arthur Ransome display. A must for all fans of “Swallows & Amazons” The receptionist was really friendly & pleasant. There is a tasteful gift & card shop too.

Thanks for visiting the museum. Our Arthur Ransome display is always popular, if, like me, you were a fan of Swallows & Amazons.

A nicely arranged, well labelled, and pleasantly uncluttered series of exhibits depicting exactly what is said - Lakeland life and industry. We spent a very enjoyable hour and a half walking round this, relatively small, exhibition. Good value for £5:00

Thanks for visiting the museum, and for taking the time to write a review. Do come and visit again before we close for refurbishment in 2020.

Have just started reading the Swallows and Amazons series so was interested to go to see some of his belongings in this recreated study. Also the new temporary exhibition is about child labour and that was thought-provoking.

Thanks for visiting the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry. I really enjoyed reading Swallows & Amazons as a child, so also find our Arthur Ransome collection particularly interesting.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry if you had to queue for the toilets - we do have several in the building, both in the art gallery and by the cafe. I hope that this didn't detract from your visit too much.

This is a well built museum of the past recent enough for us to perhaps remember grandparents using many of the household items on display. The atmosphere is one of total calm as one wanders from room to room. Certainly worth a visit.
