Stayed in Hawkshead a few times now love the place. We found this place expensive and boring. Waste of money and will not go back.

We visited the Beatrix Potter gallery today on a day out in Hawkshead. We had visited Hill Top Farm earlier in the day, so we were keen to also see the gallery to complete the visit. We went in and were greeted by the very friendly and highly knowledgable staff, who filled us in on the background of the gallery,... More

Some lovely original drawings by Beatrix Potter. We liked the comments from staff about why they liked the images. The ten year old liked the interactive scene on the wall but thinks some sort of quiz trail would improve this attraction. Worth a visit as part of a wander around the stunning village of Hawkshead.

amazing to see original works by one of the greatest children's authors of all time, to see the place where Beatrix met her husband and to see some of her original iconic sketches all surrounded by an amazing building in a beautiful village

Not a lot really and quite pricey if you are not a NT member. Mostly pictures. Did not take long to look round but nice town to stroll round while you are there

This gallery is situated in the middle of the pretty village of Hawkshead. It is owned by the National Trust. It contains paintings and drawings by Beatrix Potter and is a must for Beatrix Potter fans. As members of the NT, it was free entrance for us but I don't think it would appeal to anyone who is not a... More

If you've done Hill Top - this is the next port of call, we found this gem straight after leaving Hill Top and it gave us such appreciation for Beatrix Potters talent and detail. The drawings she did were spectacular, even from a young age you can see how talented she was. If only could draw and paint that wel!!

I was disappointed in the Hilltop experience but found this better. More original drawings here in her husband's former solicitor's office. I think there were only 2 at the house.

Another example of what the National Trust does best. Although the cottage itself is very small, it's big on atmosphere and you can learn an awful lot about the amazing Beatrix Potter. There are some wonderful original artworks and as you wander through the rooms, you realise what an incredibly talented lady Beatrix Potter was. The problem is that it... More
