Shame about the necessary repairs but the church is very nice and outside gardens are quite beautiful with great views of the surging river after all the recent rain the previous day.

A must visit venue whilst in Grasmere, fascinating history. Disable access is fine and getting around the grave yard was easy.

Beautiful grounds . A lovely, calming atmosphere. Peace walks part of the grounds is tranquil and emotive. A great place to visit to step away from the tourists in the village x

If you have an interest in William Wordsworth you might like to visit the church in whose grounds the famous poet is laid to rest along with several members of his family. It is not far from Dove Cottage where he lived.

I stopped into St. Oswald's on a recent visit to Grasmere. As has been pointed out, the church is undergoing renovation and there was quite a bit of scaffolding up. However, it was still worth the visit to this lovely church.

The Church is situated in the centre of the village and dates from the 14th Century but has been extended since then and has an annual rushbearing festival. There is an unusual high ceiling with exposed beams and some stained glass windows. William Wordsworth attended...More
