This Museum is brim full of local history and is a great credit to those that have assembled it. A charge of £6 for adults is not unreasonable considering the quality of exhibits. Obviously John Ruskin is one of the main exhibits, but other local people are represented including the VC winner James Hewitson. A well made miniature village is... More

Tucked away off a busy street, this museum seemed Tardis-like: much more on the inside than would appear to be from the outside. Fascinating displays and info about the area, from Neolithic times to the present day. As a needlewoman, I particularly enjoyed the extensive collection of Ruskin lace, and the associated video, showing this intricate technique. The Bluebird hall,... More

You are missing a trick not telling of Ruskin's association with the pre-Raphaelite brother hood or the arts and craft movement. I was disappointed about this aspect. The Bluebird exhibition is interesting though.

I honestly didn't think the Ruskin house or museum would be hugely interesting but we spent over an hour in there. Lots to see and a beautiful house in general! The little film at the start was also interesting to watch.

My main reason for visiting the museum was to see the restored and some original parts of Bluebird. We did do all of the museum though while there a thoroughly enjoyed it.

The main attraction has to be Donald Campbells Bluebird K7, or what is left of it after the tragic accident, which resulted in his death around 35 years ago. There are many other things to see in the museum about Coniston itself.

Decided to do this museum as supposed to have Bluebird in there - they don't and it is a very small and disappointing display. The other areas of the museum were underwhelming.

This small museum was full of local history! My favorite was the Donald Capbell wing that will soon feature Campbells actual speed breaking machine. A local lad, Marc Callan has carved, from a single lump of slate, a model of the Bluebird. It is absolutely incredeble to see. He has an outdoor studio just 5 minutes walk from the village... More

Well presented and thought out. The museum adds to the "Lakeland Experience." Of course, the poignant Bluebird exhibition is of particular interest but it does not detract from the excellence of the other exhibits rather contributes to them, giving a valuable and comprehensive insight into the history and culture of the region. As always there was not enough time to... More
