Getting to and around the Lake District from Liverpool alone means relying on hire cars, or trains and buses. Skip the effort with a day trip that makes everything smooth and easy, and showcases some of the region’s highlights and under-the-radar sights. Explore Ambleside, hike around Blea Tarn, see Castlerigg Stone Circle, and enjoy an optional Lake Windermere cruise (own cost), all without any worries detracting from the scenery.

Visited on 3 occasions in the evening, (no heaters), thorough COVID security, large menu plus 5 specials, all our food was tasty and large portions, v good pint of Britannia Special. Staff were not v friendly but I think that they were all cold (we all were), and looked fed up with working outside. So overall, v good considering the problems with keeping a pub running with only outside space.

We stopped for lunch and found it very covid secure. Temp checks were done before entering. We ate outside and they had huge screens dividing the some of the tables. This allow talk with people on the other side without coming into contact with. Brilliant. Delicious menu and lovely ice creams.

Beautiful little village and a popular pub with great pub food (five bean chilli and a melt in the mouth "Lamb Henry"). Attentive, friendly staff and nice ambience. Definitely worth a visit and we will be back in the future.

Unfortunately the landlord has decided to play catch up after covid. Very rigorous covid security measures which is excellent BUT this is by mile the most expensive pub I've been to. £4.50 for a pint of beer and £4.50 for bowl chips, daylight robbery. Witha 15%vat cut that makes a bowl of chips £5.14. London prices! And to add insult to injury half way through we were asked to move table to make way for six people. This is profiteering.

Having stopped for a quick pint many times here, Saturday was the first time we had a meal. All the Covid precautions were great and all our party felt safe. We had booked, which at the moment is essential, for 6 people at 6pm. Everything was perfect, the service great, the staff could not do enough for us, everyone cleared their plates as the food was spot on. And this was finished of with drinks outside under the umbrellas in the rain. In all a great night and we will be dinning here again. Many thanks.
