A great pub tucked away from the main street but still busy, especially with the locals. No annoying music and no food to get in the way of simply enjoying a drink and company in a cosy, traditional enviroment. The Robinsons beer is excellent and...More

Such a shame that this pub serves that Manchester filth that passes for beer made by Robinson's. For this is a proper pub with excellent bar staff and service, loads of nooks and crannies and no pretensions to serving food. Clearly popular with Ambleside locals,...More

The best pub in Ambleside by a country mile. Very good beer, always well kept and reasonably priced for the central lakes. Friendly staff and locals. It is well worth finding up the Kirkstone road.

Pints of the “Cumbria Way” were easily quaffed and pulled by the friendly chatty staff. Sat down next to the roaring fire which was shared by friendly locals. Some local chat, one of many board games and an endless parade of almost every type of...More

We visit Ambleside every New Year with friends from around the country, and visit this pub every day. It’s traditional, has a very wide range of real ales, with excellent prompt service from the numerous staff. Recommended.

You come into our pub shouting, screaming and "singing", without any consideration for our other customers or our neighbours. When asked to stop you childishly carried on and got even louder. And yet apparently we are the rude ones.

No, we don't have a car park. There is pay-and-display and on-street parking nearby.
