What a great little gem this pub is nestled in the back streets of Ambleside. Hugh range of beers, very clean, old fashioned nice. Great place to visit, not like the modern pub. Pop in if your passing.

Totally love this pub. It is all old charm without tv or music, just amazing conversation and company. It was the perfect place for our wedding evening (and every other night in Ambleside). See you all soon x

This is off the beaten trap in Ambleside but it is well worth seeking out. There is no food ( other than delicious snack pork pies ), no games machines , no sports Tv but this is as traditional an old English pub as you...More

Sorry to hear that you were bothered by wildlife on at hot and humid weekend. We will look into hermetically sealing the pub so that you won't be bothered by nature.

I thoroughly enjoyed my few lovely real ales in this bar. Small, attractive and traditional, with lovely staff. Definitely worth a visit and especially to rest weary hill walking legs on the lovely bear terrace :-)

Lovely pub off the beaten track. Only downside is they don’t do food, so we had to go somewhere else for food but ended up coming back for a drink due to the lovely, friendly, welcoming atmosphere of this dog friendly pub. Sat in the...More

Very friendly welcome and great selection of beers. Outside area to rear catches the evening sun; perfect to relax with a beer, or two, after walking on the fells.

Friendly local no nonsense pub, popular with locals, students and visitors. 7 beers/cider mainly from Robinsons. All of them always in tip top condition. No food except for pork pies and scotch eggs, but these are made by the local butcher and from local farms.

This unpretentious pub just off the main street offers a good range of beers and pub grub. The bar staff will let you sample the beer and welcome visitors and locals alike. Worth a visit.
