Had a fantastic walk up to Jenkin Crag through Skelghyll Woods and back through Stagshaw gardens, the scenery was lush and the veiws from the top were well worth the effort. Went first thing and didn't see a soul, so peaceful, beautiful place. 😊

We walked from Troutbeck to Ambleside and discovered this along the way. Some may miss it whilst walking along, but worth a visit whilst walking through the Skelghyll woods

Brilliant walk up to Jenkins crag, brilliant views, pleasant walk up hill. Take water with you ,you can then take the path to trout beck if you are feeling energetic.

Jenkin Crag is on a lovely walk between Ambleside and Troutbeck and is highly recommended. The trees are now very mature and the views are not as great as they must have been in Edwardian times, but it's nice to be within a deciduous wood...More

Most of the walk we did took place on bridle paths, quite a bit of which were slate pieces underfoot. As the weather was typical for “The Lakes” ie heavy rain, the paths were like streams, so apart from the odd muddy patch, we were...More

We walked here from where we were staying in Waterhead as it's part of a nice circular route that heads up to Wansfell Pike, which is definitely worth doing! Jenkin Crag offers a nice view of Lake Windermere! Bring good footwear are the path can...More

Stunning views over the lake and to the hills in the distance. Not suitable for people with mobility issues, lots of tree roots and rocks.

Just below Ambleside (south) Lowfold Car Park, there are some free spaces at the back, there is a signpost off Old Lake Rd for Wansfell, Jenkin's Crag.
