We always go to Ullswater! It never fails to impress and it doesn't matter how often you visit, there's always something that's different. It is much quieter in this corner of the Lakes although Pooley Bridge and Glenridding can get very busy. There's several car parks around the perimeter of the Lake so you can ride, walk or sail or... Very relaxing, January in the lakes is still beautiful, today was misty but great for photos, so calm, bit damp, just wear the right clothes. The Ullswater Steamer is not to be missed.

Had a lovely walk with family and our dog, beautiful views. Probably only went half way round as we had young children with us. You wouldnt be able to walk round with a buggy and not wheelchair friendly not the route we took anyway. Not a difficult walk, defiantly way to spend the morning.

Whilst Ullswater is the Lake District's second largest lake, it is much quieter than many of the others. In busy periods, parking around the Ullswater area can be both difficult to find (and expensive in Glenridding). As we're keen walkers, we've often parked near Brothers Water and then walked back towards Patterdale (and Ullswater). The eastern side of Ullswater (accessed... More

Much quieter than Wilderness and the other lakes in the area! We hired a boat from Lakeland hire for 45 minutes and explored out onto the lake - even took the dog and she loved it! Very quiet and easily accessible. Incredible views and a pleasant afternoon.

Ullswater is a very scenic lake that, despite it's size, has very few boats using it. The Ullswater Steamers sail the length of the lake all year round giving excellent views of the surrounding hills. Apart from these there are only usually a few canoes or the odd yacht on the lake. The roads skirting the lake are narrow and... More
