Excellent find
Aug 2020 • Friends
Excellent and friendly pub with good beers/cider on tap. We had a very good time here. It's in the centre of town and I would recommend it to anyone.

A good visit
Oct 2020 • Couples
Small friendly place, COVID means even less people can visit but still worth a pop in.

Went twice, some different beers. Would have been even better with descriptions on the beers to help you decide. Although if you asked you got informed exactly what was available.

Thank you for your lovely review. I appreciate what you say about descriptions, but with lack of wall space and regularly changing ales, it is not so easy to have all information easy to see at the moment. Our usual board is still filled in, but is a bit hidden from seated positions. I am pleased you enjoyed your visit and, as you say, I am always happy to answer questions about our products. In response to your comment, I will have another think about beer selection and descriptions that are easier to see. However, I also have 6 real ciders to consider as well!

Very good ‘hidden’ pub in Hull
Dec 2019 • Couples
We sought this pub out for a quick pint after meeting one of our boys at the railway station. Very much a traditional style pub with some nice teal ales on offer backed by friendly service. Well worth a visit away from the busier city centre pubs.

Great find
Nov 2019
Wanted to find a small local pub and found this little gem. It is in a basement and quite small but really worth searching out, they had 3 real ales on and I tried all of them, they were all well kept and very enjoyable. We also decided to have some cheese and crackers to put us on until our evening meal and this was very well presented with a great selection of cheeses. We'd like to call again sometime and try the pies and more beer obviously.

Blast from the past
Nov 2019
Popped in for a drink on a night out in city centre recently. My husband and I have visited this bar years ago when trading under different names. Need to be careful going down the steps into this little basement bar, but well worth a visit. Lovely chap behind the bar, nice glass of wine / ale, comfortable and quiet so good if you’re with company and want to chat. All in all, looking forward to popping in again soon

Excellent Bar
Sep 2019 • Business
This is a small bar for beer lovers with a good choice of interesting real ale and some bottled Belgian beers. Quiet and very authentic, with a very friendly landlord. Food menu: the pear and goats cheese ravioli was excellent.
Very different, and well worth a visit.

It’s a cosy local pub
Jul 2019
I stopped here when waiting for my train. It is located within walking distance from the railway station.

The place itself is quite small and it seems to be well attended by local clientele. It has a good selection of local ales and the owner and locals are genuinely friendly.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you are bored of pub chains and looking for places with a bit of local character this one is certainly for you.

Unclean glasses
Jun 2019 • Couples
This was the only pub we could find near the church where we were going to see a music show - I wish we hadn’t bothered. The picture with the unclean glass says it all. I’ve never seen such unclean glasses in my life, and then was charged nearly £10 for two glasses of wine! The name of the pub suggests they specialise in wine as well as beer. Rip off.

I am sorry, you found your glasses to be unclean. We aim to keep everything hygenic and clean. If you had mentioned this to the bar staff at the time, we would have rectified the matter immediately. Please do come again and I am sure that your experience will be better than you seem to have experienced on your first visit.
