We got caught out in the rain near St Mary the Virgin and decided to take shelter in the church. After visiting the Holy Trinity this church was a lot smaller but very interesting. The floors were uneven so if you have difficulty walking take care they have put mats down to try and help. It is a very old... More

St Mary's is extraordinary, with beautiful stained glass. Amazing that it has stood on this busy road for hundreds of years, but time has taken its toll and it is in need of some restoration. Despite that, the priest and congregation get on with serving the community, e.g. running a soup kitchen. Services are Anglican and very traditional, but it's... More

We have visited many churches over the last few years in pursuit of our interest in stained glass, but I think I can safely say that we have never been made to feel so unwelcome as we were last week - in stark contrast to the previous church Holy Trinity. There were many people about in St Mary's but not... More

I have visited this church a number of times, it is steeped in history and there is plenty to see if you like churches. my son has played in concert there a few times and this is why I visited. To me a church is like any other but this one does have a lot of history. In days gone... More

Whenever we go a town or city we have never visited we alway's check out the local architecture and this inadvertently mean's we check out some wonderful churches and this particular church is certainly well worth a visit. It's Hull's oldest church, beautiful light and airy interior, the stained glass windows are truely outstanding. The archways look magnificent and the atmosphere... More

St Mary's Lowgate is the oldest parish church in Kingston upon Hull, even having survived the German bombing of WWII. It is currently fund raising to restore it to a place for local people to use for worship and for other business and recreational purposes. The church continues to be an oasis of peace and tranquillity in the heart of... More

This church is bright and friendly, with some wonderful stained glass and is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Great peel of bells, if you are lucky enough to hear them.
