Unfair treatment by P&O
Oct 2020
We paid for a ferry crossing from Hull to Rotterdam in 2019 to leave in May 2020 but the pandemic kicked in and we had to keep cancelling until I requested a refund of our £446.24 but we were refused because we booked a “Saver” crossing. P&O said we can re book until December 2021 then we lose all of our money. Under the current circumstances I find this very unfair and we cannot just up and go whenever we please so we lose all of this money without receiving the service that we paid for. After paying out thousands on cruises and endless ferry crossings, I will never use P&O again and I recommend that other people avoid using them too. I have had to place a date and passenger info on this to be able to post it! Please ignore dates & family and passenger details given

Mama;s funeral
May 2021
Ok, I’m not going to go into the whole story. It would end up as War & Peace. Suffice to say that the staff at the checkin were amazing. Dealing with a group of 8 travelling to a funeral, and having to deal with 3 Covid-19 PCR tests messed up (by the testing company) because the dates on the certificate were wrong, the staff went out of their way to allow us to board. They dealt with the Dutch boarder control and dug their heals in until they accepted our certificates. I believe it was the shift manager who dealt with us, she was a star!

The crew of the ferry cannot do enough for you either! They seem to be at your beck and call. They were just as attentive on the way back as on the way out (thank you to the crews of Pride of Hull & Pride of Rotterdam)

Best ferry company working in the UK by far
Apr 2021 • Business
I am a lorry driver that travels regularly to Europe using all of the ferry companies and Eurotunnel so I'm speaking from experience. The staff at check in at Hull are outstanding, I arrived at Hull today and both my customer and agent had failed to complete the required documentation, the guy at check in told me what they had to do to correct them but it took a further two attempts, throughout the check in we're patient and understanding. I also have a condition where it makes my life easier if I can have an outside cabin, this again was no problem the guy provided me with a nice one on deck 9, the service they provide would put others to shame. On a final note the staff on the pride of Rotterdam are very good to, all in all I'd rather go this way than any other, well done P&O it's been a tough old time but your staff make my job a lot more pleasant, many thanks

Great experience! For our puppy also !
Dec 2020 • Couples
Would definitely recommend this company to travel with !
It was the first time for me and my boyfriend and our puppy travelling on a boat abroad , and I must say the experience couldn’t have been any better !
The staff was so friendly and so helpful! Especially for our puppy ! They kept a good eye on her and provided her with al the necessities . Given the circumstances of travelling today in this bad time , there was nothing but respect for the COVID protocols and all the staff made us feel very safe .
Our 10 month puppy which has never been away from us before , felt safe and was more than happy going into her kennel .
Thank you P & O ferries for such a great trip !

Worst food ever
Sep 2020 • Family
Wprost food ever. Absolutely disgusting. Never eat there. Traveled few times so we tried almost everything they have. I think it all just come done and they heat it. Prices high like in good Italian restaurant. My advice - just bring your own sandwich for breakfast.

P&O break there own terms and conditions
Jul 2020
I had a ferry booked via Direct Ferries to travel with P&O ferries from Hull to Zeebrugger on 10th July. The sailing was cancelled by P&O and we requested a refund but have been given a credit note that we are never going to be able to use. I tried to do a section 75 claim via my credit card but DF are hiding behind a clause in the booking terms that states they are only an agent and are not responsible for the sailing cancellations and P&O will not give them a refund.

P&O's own terms and condition's state "We will refund the Total P&O Ferries Fare of the affected inbound and/or outbound crossing if we cannot ship you at all with us or arrange a suitable alternative ferry crossing, or if you do not wish to take any alternative journey offered by us."

P&O will not take any calls and are unwilling to make a refund to direct ferries.

The strange thing is our friends who we were travelling with on the same ferry and booked through DF requested a refund around the same time and received it shortly after.

I understand it is difficult times with Covid-19 but P&O customer services are just worthless and they are breaching their own contract terms.

I would advise booking with a different ferry company or using a different methods of travel

Truly grim and dated
Aug 2020 • Family
Although we travelled in Covid times the ferry felt seriously grotty, dated and dusty. The cabin was as basic and dated as it could get. 1 plug socket for 4 people. Seriously over priced and grim. Staff were friendly and because the crossing was almost empty we were off the boat quickly. Otherwise god I wish there was an alternative convenient option for getting to Rotterdam.

Originally booked on the Hull - Zeebrugge ferry but amended the booking to the Hull -Rotterdam as the aforementioned had ceased to operate.
The ‘Pride of Hull’ was far from full as we cleared the Humber estuary. The safety procedures embedded were carried out with friendliness by the professional crew members. We dined in the Brasserie & the meal was good, but no ‘Specials’ menu that has been running for several years. The wine list needs updating.
The cabin had a kettle + tea/ coffee etc.
On return from Europoort we were given indications about completing the Border Force quarantine form. We were loaned tablets and a crew member, Chimy, gave us a great deal of help.
The boat was fuller on return to Hull but still no where near capacity.
The withdrawal of the Hull -Zeebrugge meant £48 extra to pay, and nearly two hours additional driving as it is obviously further north of our French destination.

Prior to travelling we were unable to speak to P & O ferries but had to communicate via email, answers usually a few days later. Our booking amendment was confirmed by a phone call from P & O HQ in Dover.

Overall, we believe that P & O have done well in the circumstances.

Good Morning, Thanks for your review. I am firstly sorry that there was no ‘Specials’ menu available on board. Thank you for the feedback on the wine list also. I am glad to read however that overall you enjoyed your experience with us. And we hope we are able to welcome you on board again in the future. Best, Harpo

Amsterdam mini cruise COVID-19 update
Aug 2020 • Friends
Just got back from the Hull-Amsterdam mini cruise on the Pride of Rotterdam so want to give people an idea of what to expect.

On arrival at Hull the parking has gone up by £4 to £20 for 2 days which is a little excessive compared to the £16 I paid earlier this year. Check-in hasn't changed except for the need to wear a mask and keep social distancing.
On the ship you are required to wear a mask in public areas except for when seated to eat or drinking in a bar. All of the public toilets are closed along with the Casino and there are floor markers indicating a one way system in the majority of the public spaces.
We ate in the Kitchen restaurant and it is no longer self service, a crew member will pick a plate for you and you tell them what you want whilst walking around the counter and they hand it over to you on a tray at the end, the food selection is the same as usual and the crew are quite efficient so there isn't a big queue. The drinks are also served by a staff member and this was a bit of a let down, there is no fizzy pop and while I was dining, they ran out of orange juice so there was only apple juice or water available as cold drinks. They are still serving alcoholic drinks and I assume you could buy a bottle of Pepsi but its already poor value for money in my opinion.
On the evenings they have really stripped back their entertainment so there is an acoustic singer who does a set in the showbar and 2 sets in the sky lounge and there was juke box bingo and an interactive quiz in the showbar with some fairly tame and very quiet music played in between. The entertainment was quite good but don't be expecting the usual party like atmosphere. The Irish bar, balcony and dance floor are all closed but the Cinemas are both open if you're looking for something else to do.
For those using the Bus, you have to fill out 2 declaration forms, 1 for each journey and hand them to the driver when you board. As it was so quiet on the ship there was only 1 Bus so it dropped people off in Rotterdam then went on to Amsterdam so the trip is about 1hr 45min in total and the seats are all available on the bus but you have to wear a mask on board.

Overall it was a good trip but its a premium price to do it in summer and its not really good value for money for what you get.
