    Really enjoyable trip
This is my second trip on the p & o ferry, we booked through direct ferries, which I maybe wouldnt do again as does not give an option to book coach transfer, which I would advise anyone to do as they are booked up quickly. We arrived around 1.45 mins before departure we had plenty of time a long queue for checking but it went down quickly. Plenty of staff around to direct you to the cabin, which are small and basic, but clean. We went to one of the main bars, the drinks are reasonably priced, they do a free quiz and have live music in the bars, Parts of the journey are rocky but as someone who does suffer with travel sickness I wore bands and took a kwell, I didn't have any issues. For eating they have a buffet restaurant, which was £22.95 pp (I feel its expensive) , I didn't try it but my friend did and said it was good £10pp for breakfast. They have a coffee bar where you can get pizzas these were very nice around £10. We had to wait quite a long time for the coach to leave for Amsterdam this toon 1 hour 20 mins meaning you have 5 hours in Amsterdam. All in all its a good weekend away for the money, and you can stock up on duty free, I definitely do it again.
Hello. Thank you for taking time to leave a rating for us. We're happy to know you have enjoyed your time on board with us and we look forward to seeing you again

    P&O Incompetence
£160 for 2 in a Premier double bed cabin we paid for a 2 night cruise to Amsterdam. Arrived in Rotterdam port at 8.45am ish, was through border control fairly quick, but the had to wait for a bus as P&O somehow managed, despite selling tickets, knowing how many have boarded 12hrs prior to us arriving, not put enough buses on. One double decker. That's it. A bus for the rest of us finally arrived at 10.15am, which was filled and we arrived into Amsterdam around 11.45am which doesn't give you that much time when they say the last bus back to the boat leaves at 5pm on the dot. This was with little to no traffic, so be aware the 90 minute transfer is the minimum it would take to get into Amsterdam. As for the ferry itself, no real complaints, pretty choppy on the way back yet that's clearly not P&O's fault. Alcohol was fairly priced which I was a little surprised with and the staff were all super friendly and always on the move keeping tables clean. Would be nice to have Wi-Fi in the cabins, it is 2023 and with no mobile signal for 80% of the journey being out in the North Sea you're kinda lost. Wi-Fi was meant to be available in public areas according to leaflets in the cabin, however we couldn't connect to it at all, we was later told by reception that the US had pulled it's satellites that provided the service. Despite the cheap price, it's hard to really recommend when they are that incompetent in organising the travel you pay for.
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to review our services, we appreciate the feedback. We are sorry to hear that you left disappointed with your crossing. Amazing staff!
I received the mini cruise as a Christmas gift! I have to be honest, I was very apprehensive as I’m used to flying to hot destinations. So a mini cruise to Amsterdam in January was a new experience! What can I say…. I really enjoyed it even though the weather was terrible, choppy crossing and absolutely poured down the whole day in Amsterdam but we made the most of it and needed a long hot shower on our return to the ferry. My partner had organised special assistance and it was an excellent service, the staff are so pleasant, friendly and can’t do enough to assist you. The reception staff again were absolutely brilliant! Always smiling, happy, informative and bend over backwards to help you. The only thing we did find is that the prices of drinks etc were very expensive….. but….. I suppose it’s to be expected. Entertainment was good, took part in the quiz! (Didn’t win 😂) and listened to the band Friday night. Had cocktails on the Saturday night in the Sunset Lounge, very pleasant listening to a singer/guitarist. Finished off the evening with a pizza! The return journey was very choppy and we were a little uneasy but again… put at ease by the staff especially one (if I knew his name I would give him a shout out!) at the reception.

Wifi on board was under maintenance without any prior notice to customers which was a big issue as I needed to contact somebody while we were at sea I had to use international data so costed me same as the trip in extra roaming charges. Not as advertised and didn't provide the service as offered regarding wifi access & can't even claim compensation.

Boiling water in the cabin's ensuite bathroom sink so couldn't use it at all and didn't get fixed so had to use other communal bathroom.

Lift to the sundeck lounge was broken the entire time. Someone with disability could not have access.

We were on the standard cabin and the air con couldn't cool the tiny room so felt very hot the entire time, can only imagine how hot it gets in the summer time.

Food at the buffet was Ok but definitely not worth the price you pay for it. Should be half the price of what's on offer.

They wake everyone up at 6 am to sell breakfast buffet regardless if you want it or not when the ship dockes at 8:30. Should be an optional announcement.

Good live music band for entertainment.

Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff.

Good duty free shops.

Good bars and drinks selection but paid higher than normal prices than on land.

Personally won't be using again unless much improvements are made. Can't believe you didn't tell the customers beforehand there won't be wifi on board.

4/10 experience

I decided to sail a different route home from the Netherlands, for a change; I usually sail Stena from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. Before booking I checked on the P&O website which confirmed that there was a bus transfer service from Rotterdam, as I knew that the Europoort terminal was a long way from the city. Unfortunately I only learned after booking (from the Rotterdam tourist office, having spent hours searching online) that P&O has cancelled the bus transfer due to Covid. This despite the fact that the ferry hasn’t been cancelled due to Covid; and that a full bus service is operating all over Rotterdam.

This resulted in me having to spend a lot of money on a private transfer to the ferry terminal, which I hadn’t budgeted for. Only after learning that P&O customer service was closed for the weekend!

I assumed that P&O was a prestigious company with a long and proud reputation. So sad that it has such little respect and consideration for its foot passengers. I would heartily recommend fellow ferry travellers from Rotterdam to England to stick with Stena; the Metro from Rotterdam goes right up to the ferry. Though for my trip next month I’m sailing DFDS from Newcastle to Amsterdam; DFDS have seen fit not to cancel their bus transfers :-)

I should add that the ferry crossing itself was great; my cabin was very comfortable and the on board staff were lovely. I’d love to have awarded a higher score, but you have to get the fundamentals right.

We booked the brasserie and had booked a window table for 7.30 when we arrived at the restaurant at 7.15 we were told first come first served so got a table away from the window which wasn't a problem we got the starter in 15 minutes the lamb bonbons were lovely, at 8.45 I asked if there was any sign of the main course , the very polite wait staff said it was on its way .At 9.15 I asked again and they agreed it had been an hour and a half and apologised. It came around 10 minutes later the duo of lamb was sadly lacking and the haddock chowder had 1 small piece of fish , very disappointed and for the prices it quite simply wasn't good enough

We went on the Hull to Rotterdam ferry cruise and got a good package deal for 2 nights on the ferry in an inside cabin, transfers into Amsterdam and 1 night in a 3 star hotel about half an hour in a tram from the centre of Amsterdam. The staff are all very polite on board and the ferry looks lovely. We ate at The Kitchen on the way out. The food was nice, bur we preferred The Brasserie on the way back. Made it more of an occasion, although we were disappointed to see that the prices have gone right up, the main meals songs include sides and there is far less choice than before.
We upgraded to an outside cabin on the way out and to a club room on the way back. Unfortunately I found the inside cabin a bit too claustrophobic, but I’m sure many people wouldn’t be bothered.
The sea was fairly calm both ways and the beds are fairly comfortable. The coach transfer back to the ferry was unfortunately 20 mins late and then we hit all the traffic. This was quite annoying, as we felt really rushed when we got back on board the ferry. It was 7.30pm by the time we got through border control. We didn’t get asked for our covid price and I was extremely surprised that they didn’t check our bags. We could have had anything in there. I really think security should be tighter. Overall, a great trip away and Amsterdam is beautiful at this time of year.

The food on this ferry is over priced and in some cases inedible, I had a meal in the A La Carte restaurant and the lamb I was served was so tough I couldn't eat it ( I doubt that my dog would have). I did tell the person who was taking payment about the standard and he shrugged and walked away. after emailing customer services (there is no system for reimbursing customers for rubbish food apparently) still no joy.

All I can say is BEWARE and if you need to eat on-board take your own - it will be cheaper and most likely a better quality.

The ship was spotlessly clean, the staff were helpful and the entertainment was a nice bonus.
for anyone who doesnt know what the voltage in the cabins is, you can use a UK plug and there are continental sockets also.

The brasserie restaurant was lovely food and great service, but I felt the menu a little bit limited.
The Kitchen restaurant is buffet and there were several Hot meal choices, soup to start and desert - good value at £22 per person.
The drinks are a little expensive as you would expect.

It might be worth noting you need to select Amsterdam for the Coach transfer otherwise you will be transferred to Rotterdam

In amsterdam we walked miles and still didnt find where to get on the glass top boat, i had just assumed they would be near the central station. definitely need to research that I would say.
Also mind the killer bikes, they ride on pedestrian paved areas and not just push bikes, if you are crossing the road they come at you expecting you to move out of the way - they don't stop for anything.

The Parking at the Dock in Hull is a Large area and there is Multi storey also, you can't seem to book in advance but there was no shortage of spaces when we went. also the weather in Amsterdam was better than expected, so it may not Rain as had been noted it often does.

Been a few years since travelling this route and have to say we were disappointed at the poor standard on this ferry. Starting with the accommodation, we travelled in a double bedded cabi that was very small with a small bed, we had to climb over each other to use the bathroom and space was very tight.
The bars were ok but prices over cooked, service ok, food very.limited and not cheap. Entertainment was quite poor. Disembarkation was slow and the journey to Amsterdam long and slow. We would fly next time and forget the ferry particularly after paying the hefty fee for 3 days parking of £30Last comment was that different outlets ran out of various drinks!! Really poor

This was the second time I’ve done the crossing from Hull to Rotterdam. We got the deal that was £50 each and did the 3 night one so we spent the night in Amsterdam.

The bus takes about 1 hour 30 and drops you off near Amsterdam centraal station, we got there just before 11am and you are picked up at 5pm.

I paid a bit extra to upgrade our cabin to a premier cabin so we could have a window and a bit more room. It was clean and cosy, can’t complain.

Unfortunately there was no wifi available on board but just meant we actually had to talk to each other for once, boyfriend wasn’t best pleased!

There is not massive amounts to do on board but there’s duty free shops that have good prices. Night entertainment was good, they had a couple of interactive quizzes on. Bar prices were expensive but we expected it, around £9 for cocktails or £5 for beer.

However, there are only two restaurants on board. We opted for ‘The Kitchen’ which offered a buffet, it was £25 each and absolutely not worth it. On the way out it was okay but on the way back it was rotten. Ended up having a naan bread and mango chutney for my dinner as the rest was just inedible. And this is coming from someone who will eat a kebab after a night out. Definitely try the other restaurant ‘The Brasserie’ instead!

Overall would 100% do it again (but not set foot in the buffet place). It’s a good alternative to flying especially as there’s no liquid restrictions or massive queues for security. In the summer it’s better as you can sit on the top deck outside, but winter is a little brutal. Also definitely worth staying a night in Amsterdam as I find just the day trip not long enough.

Our first overnight crossing on this route and we spoilt ourselves by opting for a stateroom. Being greeted as we drove on and shown to our cabin was great and the cabin was brilliant.

We enjoyed the food in the brasserie and the fact we could get a decent pint onboard.

Only a few quibbles, somewhere quiet to drink would be nice, we were charged for an extra bottle of wine and on both crossings we are an hour late disembarking. It would make sense to allow more time as being woken at 6.30am only to leave at 9am is a little annoying.

Cynical extortion racket

A 60 minute long queue to pass through passport control and onto the ferry, moving forward no faster than one car a minute, blocks access to the on-site P&O parking. Meaning a 45 minute early arrival turns into missing last check-in by 15 minutes.

Having passed through the barriered car park, which lifts as you arrive, your focus is on getting luggage down and not missing the ferry.

On return you find that the barriers are just a con-trick and you have been charged £100 A DAY for parking, which the small print on the sign turns out, despite the obvious barriers,is actually pay and display.

It is a cynical extortion exercise exploiting passengers already under stress.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated. Unfortunately the queues at the border checks are out of our control as this is a completely separate part of the journey to P&O Ferries. The charges for the car park have been introduced to offset the costs we must pay to ABP for the car parking areas (rent, rates, security) and we apologise that you were unaware it was a pay and display car park. You can email us at customer.services@poferries.com and one of our team will be able to investigate your complaint fully and get back to you Once again we apologise for your experience with us *Ben
