Excellent Crossing on Pride of Rotterdam
Booked a crossing late as we do not like to confirm when our trip is to end. Booked a State Cabin and the service from the staff from start of the crossing to arriving in Hull was excellent. The cabin was very comfortable well equipped. Not the busiest time on the ship however all facilities were at hand. Would recommend the crossing to anyone looking to avoid the south of England and the extra mileage. Only issue was the lack of whisky choices which is better on other ships. Big improvements since the first time I used this route which was in 1983 at the time of Falklands War and PO had to use a ship called St Patrick 3rd. Say no more

Lovely ferry the food was nice the staff were nice
Just returned from p&o ferry to rotterdam our room was very clean entertaintment was good. We ate in the kitchen which is buffet £25 per person or i think its £20 if you book online.plenty of choice . We also got pizza and Nachos the following eve from the snack bar which was cheaper than the buffet and it was really nice . The trip to Asterdam was ok if you want to walk around for 6hrs as your return coach picks you back up at 16.30 what is suppose to be a hour journey because of traffic we didnt get back on the ferry till 19.15 you have to check in at customs also which wasnt a problem

    Great experience!
I used P&O to return with my dog into the country (foot passenger) and I booked one of the pet friendly cabins with departure from Rotterdam to Hull. The check in was smooth and quick, and once passed passport control we were greeted by the P&O staff. As I stepped on the ferry a staff member told us a colleague would have escorted us to the cabin. They helped with the luggages and explained where to find what. The pet friendly cabins are located on deck 7. The pet friendly cabin is much more modern than the other cabins, it was very clean and we found a kettle with coffees and teas for us to use, pads and bowls for my dog. I couldn't hear any dogs barking, not funny smells in the cabin, corridor or exercise area. The dog exercise area was well organised and accessible at any time during the crossing. Shame it was flooded and my dog being a small pet, didn't really enjoy walking into a big puddle. Perhaps this could do with some improvements. Dogs are not allowed in the other areas of the ferry, but didn't really bothered me. The disembark was smooth, and I can't praise enough the staff onboard for their kindness and professionalism. They were taking good care of all the guests, especially for the elderly. The only downside of this journey was the transfer from Rotterdam central station to the port. There is a bus transfer, but I was told by a staff member from P&O they don't accept pets. Therefore, I had to arrange my own transportation. Black cabs charge not less than 120 Euros!!! While Uber charges around 65 Euros (Uber charges extra for a pet taxi), BUT you might find yourself battling to find one available that accept pets. After 45 minutes of trying, I ordered a standard uber and then contacted the driver asking if it was OK with having the dog in the car. It would be nice to have a pet friendly transfer for foot passengers to make the journey to the port less stressful and more affordable. 65 Euros it's a bit sum. I hope you can look at options. Thanks!

    False advertising
Went on the mini cruise with Caledonian trips. Reading the blurb it sounded a great price with all the frills thrown in, now the truth comes. Got picked up in Glasgow at 9.30am and was going to Hull to get the ferry with the obligatory pick ups on the way, problems started when first stop was 30mins ok but second stop was an hour resulting in getting to ferry at 6pm. Time we waited to check in well was past 7pm. Cabin consisted of 2 bunk beds no window and NO toiletries and 2 hangers. If you expected space forget it and that was after I paid Caledonian for an upgrade for 2 ground floor beds. Plus was beds were very comfortable. Do pay for the meal deal so worth it. Next morning waited an hour at ferry port for the coach to pick us up to go into Amsterdam was hour late he drove off ferry ok but got lost, 2 hr journey into Amsterdam parked off on a street resulting in only 4hrs to look round. Not worth the time and effort as all the sites work seeing are miles away. We did however take the 1hr tourist boat trip 12 euros ok for the price. Got back to ferry at 7pm Morning of leaving was a 6am breakfast call and not bad disembarking. Really Caledonian make the trip way more exciting tgzn it is, NO WAY CAN YOU SEE ANY OF AMSTERDAM. You havnt got the time.

Coach drop off point in Amsterdam too far from city centre.
I have done this mini cruise to Amsterdam many times. I really enjoy my time on board. However, each time the coach drop off point in Amsterdam gets further away from the city centre. I am 70 years of age and cannot do much walking. Please change the coach drop off point nearer to city centre.
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave us with a review, I'm pleased to hear you have enjoyed your time on-board with us. I have passed your feedback on in regard to the coach transfers.

    Enjoyable Cruise
Great Trip with our Motorhome Hull to Rotterdam We booked this trip 2 days out, and it was an easy booking also the instructions to the terminal were easy to follow. If in a vehicle go straight to the queue by the gates it is sign posted. After getting on aboard, and looking around we were quite impressed. There is everything on board for all travellers from solos to travelling with kids. Staff at Hull were great, staff on board generally friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were a couple of staff members who just didn’t realise they were working in a tourism and hospitality business. For me to mention them specifically from a whole compliment of staff who were great and willing to assist with a smile, will give you the idea on how different from the rest of the crew. It was the Costa crew on in the early evening, regardless how you ordered ie with a smile and cherry disposition just didn’t get a response out of these guys, and then when your order arrives its the closest of seen of food almost thrown at the table. Its a pity as they bring the rest of the crew down.
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave us with a review, were pleased to hear you had a smooth journey with us and were impressed with our service and our staff were friendly and attentive. However, I'm disappointed to read that wasn't the case for all our staff members. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we expect our staff to provide the best possible service for our passengers. I am therefore really disappointed to hear about your experience.

    Great service.
First time going from Hull. Great trip to visit relatives. Easy check in, great cabins, basic but spotlessly clean. Buffet is a must, great choice of food, excellent service and value for money. The crew on board are all really helpful, smart, and friendly. A really well run service. Will definitely use again.

    Gone downhill
Been a few times over the past few years. This time wasn’t as good as it used to be. No fun atmosphere staff friendly but not much interaction. The Brasserie restaurant was over priced and poor quality, things were crossed off the already limited menu felt a bit ripped off. The kitchen was far better but still average but a better price. Bus stop 20mins walk away through a bit of a rough bridged area. Amsterdam was lovely but overpriced for beer and waffles.
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave a rating for us. We're sorry to hear you were not impressed with the service you have received. We strive to provide the best possible experience for our passengers and I'm disappointed to hear that on this occasion this wasn't met. Perfect getaway
From the moment we stepped onboard the ship we were treated to 5* service and treated like royalty. The staff were welcoming and approachable and the rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable! The bathroom was spotless and tidy and the facilities onboard were fantastic! I highly recommend doing this if you are considering it, you won't be disappointed!

Just got back from the Hull-Amsterdam mini cruise on the Pride of Rotterdam so want to give people an idea of what to expect.

On arrival at Hull the parking has gone up by £4 to £20 for 2 days which is a little excessive compared to the £16 I paid earlier this year. Check-in hasn't changed except for the need to wear a mask and keep social distancing.
On the ship you are required to wear a mask in public areas except for when seated to eat or drinking in a bar. All of the public toilets are closed along with the Casino and there are floor markers indicating a one way system in the majority of the public spaces.
We ate in the Kitchen restaurant and it is no longer self service, a crew member will pick a plate for you and you tell them what you want whilst walking around the counter and they hand it over to you on a tray at the end, the food selection is the same as usual and the crew are quite efficient so there isn't a big queue. The drinks are also served by a staff member and this was a bit of a let down, there is no fizzy pop and while I was dining, they ran out of orange juice so there was only apple juice or water available as cold drinks. They are still serving alcoholic drinks and I assume you could buy a bottle of Pepsi but its already poor value for money in my opinion.
On the evenings they have really stripped back their entertainment so there is an acoustic singer who does a set in the showbar and 2 sets in the sky lounge and there was juke box bingo and an interactive quiz in the showbar with some fairly tame and very quiet music played in between. The entertainment was quite good but don't be expecting the usual party like atmosphere. The Irish bar, balcony and dance floor are all closed but the Cinemas are both open if you're looking for something else to do.
For those using the Bus, you have to fill out 2 declaration forms, 1 for each journey and hand them to the driver when you board. As it was so quiet on the ship there was only 1 Bus so it dropped people off in Rotterdam then went on to Amsterdam so the trip is about 1hr 45min in total and the seats are all available on the bus but you have to wear a mask on board.

Overall it was a good trip but its a premium price to do it in summer and its not really good value for money for what you get.

Having done a couple of real P&O cruises, it was interesting to do the "mini-cruise" to see how it fared up.
First of all £60 both ways, including an inside cabin and your coach transfer to and from Amsterdam is just a great price.
We sailed on the Pride of Hull which is a huge ferry. Yes, smaller than a normal cruise ships, but with shops and multiple bars and restaurants on board it did not feel far away from a real cruise ship.

Despite the cheap ticket, I found prices on board to be fair. Yes, of course they're going to make the money out of you on your on board spending. Drink prices were in line with normal P&O Cruise drinks. I found the brasserie restaurant to be reasonably priced and the food to be excellent.

Service was great and I just highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of going on a cruise, but don't want to invest the money or the time in case they don't like it, then to give this a go first.

The major differences from a real cruise that i noticed are:

1. The cabins aren't as nice. But the cabin served its purpose. You're only sleeping there. The cabin was clean and had onsuite toilet and shower. What more do you need eh?
2. Service on cruise ship is always "at seat" - here you go to the bar to order and pay for drinks in bars. No big deal at all. You'd just charge everything to your cabin on a real cruise.
3. You must check in again for your return journey in Rotterdam. We didn't realise this and ended up at the back of a rather large queue. I don't know why they don't just give you return boarding cards in Hull. But standing in an hour queue to get a piece of paper meant less time on the ship spending money!
4. A real cruise ship is bigger and has swimming pools gyms etc and you can get up whenever you want, not be forced to when the ship docks.

Seriously this would be 5 star review if it wasnt having to re-check in at Rotterdam which was just painful.
We had a great time, and the ship wasn't too busy at all. Great food, great entertainment, nice beer, and well worth the money.

This was our 3rd mini cruise with P&O (2 x Bruge, 1 x Amsterdam) and 2nd time travelling with young children. Overall a great exerpeince and much less stressful than flying with small children. Check in quick and simple, lots of staff around to help plenty of parking.

We were able to receive hot water from the bar and Starbucks to warm milk (took own warmer container) and the restaurant was happy to provide a cup of milk during meal times. The childrens play area is really useful and the buffet restaurant has plenty of high chairs and a good range of food.

Frustratingly we were advised that due to a shortage of cots onboard we should bring our own travelcot. While this was fine it does mean we had to carry it around Amsterdam with us which was a pain. Also to improve it would make sense to allow multiple room bookings to stipulate who is in which room. I booked 2 rooms but my 2 year old was allocated into a room of her own on the way out then with a different family member (not same name) on way back. Again not a massive issue but meant we had to keep swapping keys around etc and seems odd you would allocate infants with the lead booker/same named traveller. As others have mentioned we were on the floor above the cars which did mean a couple of car alarms in the night but thankfully not to many.

Overall we think the boat is great value for money and a fun easy way for family travel.

Poor service with your rank website that kicked me and my mate out a dozen times when trying to pay over two different nights with the same issue - get your UX team to address that dogs breakfast you give customers. We ended up using a 3rd party website to book with you as both of our operating systems and browsers couldn’t use yours directly.

Secondly taking 4 business days to respond (in what I can assume as a quit season given the weather and lack of people on your boat) to an email is appalling - lucky my hotel knew where I needed to be because if I waited for you lot I’d still be in bloody Belgium.

Your food in both restaurants is over priced and sub par for people paying that kind of money to eat. Your salad bar tasted like it was from last week. Your hot items looked abhorrent in the buffet and the meals in the other restaurant with small and cost more than the buffet to equal standard food - just can’t win no matter which venue you visited.

I decided to sail a different route home from the Netherlands, for a change; I usually sail Stena from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. Before booking I checked on the P&O website which confirmed that there was a bus transfer service from Rotterdam, as I knew that the Europoort terminal was a long way from the city. Unfortunately I only learned after booking (from the Rotterdam tourist office, having spent hours searching online) that P&O has cancelled the bus transfer due to Covid. This despite the fact that the ferry hasn’t been cancelled due to Covid; and that a full bus service is operating all over Rotterdam.

This resulted in me having to spend a lot of money on a private transfer to the ferry terminal, which I hadn’t budgeted for. Only after learning that P&O customer service was closed for the weekend!

I assumed that P&O was a prestigious company with a long and proud reputation. So sad that it has such little respect and consideration for its foot passengers. I would heartily recommend fellow ferry travellers from Rotterdam to England to stick with Stena; the Metro from Rotterdam goes right up to the ferry. Though for my trip next month I’m sailing DFDS from Newcastle to Amsterdam; DFDS have seen fit not to cancel their bus transfers :-)

I should add that the ferry crossing itself was great; my cabin was very comfortable and the on board staff were lovely. I’d love to have awarded a higher score, but you have to get the fundamentals right.

I have travelled with p&o on numerous occasions and I am travelling next Saturday to Rotterdam for my sister in laws 50th birthday and booked four clubs cabins over the phone, in total for six adults. Now although we are a group of six we where all booking separately.
Everyone was sat at the table in my home with the bank cards ready to give their details to the guy from p&o and he said that he couldn’t do them separately so in a nutshell I had to pay for everyone and get the moneys back from the rest of the party.
I would like to know why we couldn’t book separately.
The reason I am asking this is that part of our party wanted to pay by debit card and others wanted to pay by credit card.
Please advise why we couldn’t pay separately, this will clear any further confusion on this matter for other people who book with yourself.
Many thanks

Booked a mini cruise for 2 13-15 feb. The car park at the terminal was tricky with a parking meter that was confusing and only took cards. Booking, check in and getting to the cabin was smooth. Without exception every member of staff was polite. The prices on board were what you would expect, about £4 for a pint and £3.50 for a sandwich with plenty of options. The entertainment in the main show bar was ok but we found the singer in the skybar shockingly bad, the table next to us commented it was like a scene with Vic Reeves from shooting stars. Too be fair other people said how good he was. The room itself was adequate, clean and made up whilst you were out for the day. We had breakfast in the brassiere and it was very good if a bit expensive. Our biggest complaint, and mentioned by others was the Starbucks cafe style. The young girl serving couldn’t cope. I would say it took about 4 or 5 minutes to serve a customer. There were always queues, people gave up in the end. Every time she took a pizza order she disappeared into the kitchen. You could hear the collective tut from the queue! I would say we waited 25 minutes to get served with only a few people ahead of us. Disappointingly and beyond the control of P@O was the hour wait to get through passport control at Hull upon our return.

Wifi on board was under maintenance without any prior notice to customers which was a big issue as I needed to contact somebody while we were at sea I had to use international data so costed me same as the trip in extra roaming charges. Not as advertised and didn't provide the service as offered regarding wifi access & can't even claim compensation.

Boiling water in the cabin's ensuite bathroom sink so couldn't use it at all and didn't get fixed so had to use other communal bathroom.

Lift to the sundeck lounge was broken the entire time. Someone with disability could not have access.

We were on the standard cabin and the air con couldn't cool the tiny room so felt very hot the entire time, can only imagine how hot it gets in the summer time.

Food at the buffet was Ok but definitely not worth the price you pay for it. Should be half the price of what's on offer.

They wake everyone up at 6 am to sell breakfast buffet regardless if you want it or not when the ship dockes at 8:30. Should be an optional announcement.

Good live music band for entertainment.

Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff.

Good duty free shops.

Good bars and drinks selection but paid higher than normal prices than on land.

Personally won't be using again unless much improvements are made. Can't believe you didn't tell the customers beforehand there won't be wifi on board.

4/10 experience

Originally booked on the Hull - Zeebrugge ferry but amended the booking to the Hull -Rotterdam as the aforementioned had ceased to operate.
The ‘Pride of Hull’ was far from full as we cleared the Humber estuary. The safety procedures embedded were carried out with friendliness by the professional crew members. We dined in the Brasserie & the meal was good, but no ‘Specials’ menu that has been running for several years. The wine list needs updating.
The cabin had a kettle + tea/ coffee etc.
On return from Europoort we were given indications about completing the Border Force quarantine form. We were loaned tablets and a crew member, Chimy, gave us a great deal of help.
The boat was fuller on return to Hull but still no where near capacity.
The withdrawal of the Hull -Zeebrugge meant £48 extra to pay, and nearly two hours additional driving as it is obviously further north of our French destination.

Prior to travelling we were unable to speak to P & O ferries but had to communicate via email, answers usually a few days later. Our booking amendment was confirmed by a phone call from P & O HQ in Dover.

Overall, we believe that P & O have done well in the circumstances.

After DFDS left us in a pickle we booked on the ferry from Rotterdam to Hull, due to the storm we struggled to get from Amsterdam to Rotterdam, we rang P&O and informed them we wouldn't make the 1900 latest check in. The staff then added a note on our file to inform staff we would be late. Once we did arrive on the ferry we sailed through the check in, then given a shuttle onto the boat. Every single member of staff we spoke to on the boat was helpful and polite I would highly recommend.
The room was all you would expect from a bunk bed room for a 12 hour crossing, it was clean tidy and all you need. The bar was very reasonable in comparison to DFDS.
