Your local pub

We visited to watch the Rugby World Cup final. The main bar was packed and a good atmosphere to watch the game. A mixture or larger and ales on tap gave ample selection.

It seems to me that Greene King is to pubs like Colorado beetle is to potatoes. There are several GKs in the area and the format is all the same. The only saving grace that I have found is usually one (at least) good ale. One might think that the menus are set for the benefit of GK and certainly... More

We liked this place because it wasn't far from our bed and breakfast, and was set in a residential area and it was rather nice as a result! Not your usual pub on the high street. its also close to the Groves park, which gives it a nice setting. the staff were very friendly and the bar service was good.

The fire is fantastic and there's always plenty if room. Decent selection of ales, though less so since the refurb. Still a decent option.

Will not bother going back here. Lovely pub, great location. That's as good as it gets. Service glacially slow. Front bar today was full of screaming under fives who were left entirely unchecked by staff - and indeed parents. I have no problem with kids in pubs. But there is a nasty bunch of parents in here who think it... More

I have suffered just too many evenings here with a drab, uninteresting pint of wet. I honestly would not go this pub if it were not the local of some friends. The Compassses has had a major makeover over the past couple of years and very recently the external area has been superbly developed to provide Al fresco dining. But,... More

This is absolutely fantastic. The redecoration of the inside is brilliant and the comfortable top end beer garden makes this by far the best in Tunbridge Wells. It is sad that some parents are unable to control their children however, resulting in the ripping of the bar billiard table and no attempt by the parents to offer to pay for... More

Careless pints of ale ( half inch collars) young man tattooed, self interested, pulling good pub down- we've been here before- service and customers priority please. Is he a relative?

Right next to the Grove, it offers dog walkers, families and locals alike a quiet place to stop off for a drink. Friendly staff, great wine selection and proper old style pub inside. Well worth a visit if you're up that way. Lucily Mr Roos Dad stays on Mt Sion, so it's a teeny toddle up the hill, and away... More
