It looks a little shabby at first sight, but this second-hand book store is quite the treasure cove, and what looks like a smallish place initially, turns out to be a cavernous booklovers' delight.

Lots of local area books and history. Excellent fiction section. Cookery section not quite so good.

And it's cheap. Wish I would have had more time to browse but will certainly return next time.

Great secondhand bookshop with a vast collection of books at low prices.

Staff are very welcoming and helpful.

The shop caters for all ages. The children's section is appropriately decorated and has a table for the children to read at.

Michael is very passionate about the local area and his bookshop sells a great selection of local books.

If my bf weren’t with me, I could have easily spent all day in Michael’s Bookshop. There are so many isles of wonderful books. There are also many strategically placed comfortable chairs in different places. It’s such a cozy and inviting place for book lovers. I highly recommend Michael’s Bookshop for any kind of reader. There is something for everyone.

Wish we had a bookshop like this where we live!

It is all laid out in categories, so easy to find your favourite subject.

All very reasonably priced too. I came away with about 12 books!

What a joy to find this well kept and tempting secondhand bookshop in Ramsgate. For lovers of books, this makes Ramsgate well worth stopping off in. And of course you get to see all those lovely Georgian buildings as well as the lovely harbour and the Pugin links. Michael has lots of interesting stuff about the local history of the town as well as good stocks of fiction and non-fiction!

Very very good books actually! As stated on the website there are over 100 bookshelves and over 3,000 books (Or is it 30,000) In any case... I might be a bit biased to this old place because I know the owners from my Primary school but regardless... I like it! I'm going there again tomorrow evening

For anyone interested in browsing through second-hand and out-of-print books, Michael’s in King Street is excellent and should not be missed. They have about 30,000 books arranged over around 100 shelves, and all on one floor too. We paid two visits there over the course of the week, thus adding quite a bit to the luggage for our journey home! The books are arranged in well-marked sections, and where relevant, such as fiction, are arranged alphabetically. For anyone with children with them, there is an excellent section of children’s books, and the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. If you pick up a copy of the booklet “The Pugins. A Ramsgate Town Trail” from there, whether or not you wish to follow the trail, you will find it has a very concise street map of Ramsgate, which will save endless unfolding! For anyone who may be interested to following the Trail, I would like to draw attention to the fact that all the churches on it that we visited were exasperatingly firmly closed except for the Sunday services, with the exception of the wonderful St. Augustine’s Abbey. Incidentally, I should like to commend the charity shops in Ramsgate most of which also arrange their books alphabetically, which I find is unusual in charity shops.
