Welcoming, friendly, and serves excellent beer and cider. The drinks are served straight from the barrel, and are superbly kept. Many different beers and ciders are available, particularly well represented is the excellent Ramsgate brewery, Gadds'. Oh yes, they are, very importantly, dog friendly. To conclude, an excellent hostelry. The ideal micropub.

My second visit to this glorious homage to good beer and friendly chat. We called in for a pint before a meal and very nearly missed our restaurant booking as we became involved in chats and sampling the goods. An excellent place for a few beers in good company.

What a cracking little place. Top quality ale and cider, friendly landlord and chatty, humorous regulars all made for a welcoming visit. Could happily have stayed for a couple more and wish it was a little closer to home. Thoroughly recommend.

I like micropubs. This one is a particularly good one. The beer quality is excellent, and the people running it are polite and friendly. Lovely!

Very pleasant decor, eclectic mix of furniture, 'regulars' feel, welcoming staff (hubby and wife?). Usual service - pick your poison/await drink at your table - chalkboard list of choices. A good selection of ales (7 or 8, I think), similar choice of ciders (with bottled options extra) and a range of bottled world beers from the chiller. A few snacks. Sensible prices. Nice courtyard for warmer days. Alas, my issues with all micros I've visited is the acoustics and this was no better - too low ceilings, hard surfaces, no soft furnishings and the success of the venue all contribute to a cacophony that makes it unpleasant to stay for me to stay for long once it gets busy. Or maybe that's the idea? I'd time my visits but if you can cope with that, this is a pub for you.

Popped in on a Friday evening.

Quite a lot of room still.

I must have missed the rush because at least two beers were finished and the new ones weren’t on yet thus reducing the choice.

However, I plumped for a very nice porter.

And followed that with another.

The beer was as lovely as the welcome and the clientele.

We’ll be back.

But I have to say I didn’t warm to it as much as several of the other modern wave of Micropubs I visited on this trip that the Cinque Port towns are now attracting.
There were several positives to my visit. It’s a comfortable one roomed space with decent wooden seating and a clean modern decor that actually came across to me as more cafe than pub. Very good service levels from the barmaid providing table service delivering the beers from the cold room in the corridor. Good selection of well kept ales and ciders and wines for the non beer or apple juice drinkers. The chalk board named six beers, four available and two coming soon. The four available were Kent Brewery Prohibition, Mad Dog Brewery Little NEIPA, Walton’s English Pride and East London Brewery Pearly Queen. Tried the local Prohibition and then had to go for the Pearly Queen despite it coming from four miles from my home address because when served well it really is an excellent smokey Porter , thankful as it was here.
I think the slight downside for me was that I just didn’t find it that pubby. This may have been partially down to the fact that I visited on a fine summer’s day in Ramsgate and despite the spacious front windows it was still gloomy inside compared to the outside. Perhaps it will be very different on a cold dark December evening when cuddling up to a dark stout.

This is a lovely true ale pub, on the ale trail and a must for those who enjoy fantastic ale.
Table service makes it a bit querky which is nice and a very pleasant outdoor area at the rear of the establishment, which was nice as it was a hot day so we drank outside.
The selection of ales and ciders is extensive but not so dizzying it makes it hard to choose.
Very nice staff well informed and very polite.
Will go back.

I stumbled across this micro pub by pure chance and what a great find. It looks like it was converted from a shop. Very friendly place. No bar - there is a tap room and the staff take your order and bring it to you. I think there were 4 ales on when I was there and I don't think there was lager or gas beers - just bottles. I can't remember what beer I had but it was a local brew and was in perfect condition. I will be back next time I am in Ramsgate.
