Slow Play Is A Must!
Aug 2021
If you enjoy a slow walk, mixing it with golfers in disability carts, watching old boys taking for ever to find their one golf ball they own then this is the course for you, slow play is the order of the day, its an old boys club, monopolised by the members block booking all the early tee times, no course marshals so it becomes a grind rather than an enjoyment, too many people with more than just a bad handicap!

“Kent’s Most Welcoming Golf Club”
Sep 2018 • Friends
So, after many years of going past St Augustine’s GC myself and my brother decided to drop in and play 18 holes. We were optimistic about going to a place which gives themselves the title of “Kent’s Most Welcoming Golf Club” but our experience was mixed at best!

Upon arriving at the car park we were met by glaring eyes of a couple of members but we shrugged that off as we didn’t want to assume anything about the place too quickly. We made our way from there toward the clubhouse but found out the green fees were done elsewhere, which was so poorly sign posted we ended up guessing where we were going.
We asked for 2x adults 18 hole green fees with 3 bottles of drinks, the lady behind the half cut out door was far from welcoming & enthusiastic but again, we tried to shrugged it off.
We hit some practice putts on a terribly kept practice green (which resembled 1st cut of rough more than anything else) & made our way to the first tee.
The course itself was actually decent all things considered, although some greens again were unkept & lack of signs to tell you where to go for the next tee which isn’t always obvious there.
Having mostly enjoyed the round we returned to the clubhouse to add our scores up with a beer each and this is the only time we were actually greeted with a smile and any form of conversation, I wish I could remember the young gents name behind the bar!

If I had some suggestions for this club I’d say this;
- Sign posts are valuable for first time guests, invest!!
- Have a better place to purchase green fees and drinks/sweets, in the back of an office isn’t exactly a great first impression.
- Upgrade your equipment or send green-keepers staff on refresher courses, you’ve got the chance of a very good 18 hole course but the greens especially let this down.
- Finally, if you’re going to make the claims of being the most welcoming club make sure your staff has fully bought into the idea & want to make it so.

What a lovely place
Aug 2018
Visited here for golf with friends. The weather was against us but the course was in fine condition and food and drink in the clubhouse was very good, beautifully served and reasonably priced.
Most importantly, this club is so friendly, every member spoke to us and a previous captain chatted and showed interest in who we were etc. All in all a nice experience (except for the weather)

Just attended a meal at St Augustine's a family celebration (28 adults, 5 Children) to remind us of our recently lost father in law, father grandad etc - Ronald Cullen. Thankyou, Janice (Catering Manager) another great meal.

Nicely cut fairways, good greens
Sep 2017 • Friends
Play here every year,as it is close to our local course. Fairways and greens both in good condition (except a few patches of bare turf on a couple of fairways). Several of the bunkers were lacking in sand, edges had not been cut, and grass and weeds were growing in them. Not a course to be played after heavy rain or in the wetter winter months as the ground is very heavy and low lying.

Groupon deal
Jul 2017 • Friends
Never played this course till today.. Had a Groupon deal and saved a few quid. The website says friendliest club around and yes they were superb especially the bar staff... Course is short but pretty tight all round the back 9 and lots of care needed here as your playing across other tees or greens. Greens playing well... Had a good day and liked the halfway house....

Club match

First time I have played the course, very impressed, colourful, fairways nicely cut and the greens so responsive and true, only downside was that many of the bunkers still had water in them. Food afterwards was first class. Will be back.
