About
A fine pub with a village feel in the heart of St Dunstan's. The beer garden is the best kept secret in town! Good Beer, Good Food, Good Times.

We had lunch on a Sunday here with friends. They do not do Sunday roasts which we had thought was the case when looking on their website. They have an everyday menu plus specials. I enjoyed a home cooked style chicken stew. The ale is well kept and the pub is steeped in history. Service was good and there was a lovely atmosphere ...until a party arrived with children, which caused us to finish our drinks and depart. We arranged to meet there for a catch up and it is very close to Canterbury West Station .

This pub was friendly and very clean, constantly cleaning the tables during this awkward time.
Hubby said they had good ale. Not a flashy place, just relaxed and friendly local. Thanks for a good first night in Canterbury.

I have been frequenting the unicorn for a while now. When David run the pub, the place was perfect. The staff are polite enough, but serve you,. They then chat amongst themselves, and play on their mobiles. No interacting with ALL customers. Some of the staff are very scruffy. What happened to smartly dressed staff, who chat to customers to make them want to come back. Very worried the pub is not the same as before.

Popped in for a Sunday Lunch. Great friendly service in a traditional pub atmosphere. Food was good value and they even fed our dog. Would definitely eat in again. Thank you.

Drowned the salad with dressing everyone knows it should be a pot on side for customer to choose level required. Beetroot burger from a packet not ‘locally sauced ingredients’ as for the waitress in no uniform at all but a dirty Adidas top serving the plate then walking off scratching her arse and pulling jeans back up put me right off! The only reason it wasn’t zero star was that the German bar girl was lovely.

I’m am surprised that you found a drizzle of vinegrette “drowning” if you had concerns you should have mentioned it in the first place. Our Beetroot Burgers come from a reputable vegan company and very well received by all. We are put off by people who are to scared to talk to Management but hide behind callous little comments on this site. Frankly we rather you don’t return and keep your snide comments to yourself. Good day!!!

Getting side-eyed by 'regulars' making you feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable, having to repeat a simple order multiple times, unfriendly staff. The place look like a traditional English pub from the outside, located in an attractive old building. Yet when entering, the atmosphere is unwelcoming and the space looks poorly designed. The whole experience was very unpleasant, which I have never experienced in an English pub before! Do not recommend!

I'm very surprised with this review even though it's over a year old. I can assure you that if the member of staff treated that way, they no longer work here. As for the design - the building is over 400 years old and it is listed as an historical building, we therefore use the space to the best of the design and has one of the longest bars in Canterbury. If the "regulars" made you feel unwelcome this comes as a big surprise to us as we pride ourselves in welcoming everybody. Without being facisious - are you sure you reviewed the correct pub?

Another establishment spoilt by the smoking ban. All the banter and community was huddled outside.

The Beer selection was great and looked after in a first class way.

The Unicorn is a bit outside of the City wall near the railway station but it's well worth a visit a proper pub decent real ales, beams and low ceilings and a friendly welcome, seems like a locals pub.

There's a big garden at the back too great when the sun's out.

Barstaff and licencee both glued to their phones. Ignored so I left. Nothing more to say to be honest.
