Wear wellies
Oct 2020 • Family
Excellent play area but if it had been raining in the past 24 hours wear wellies and waterproofs as the ground will be very muddy and slippery. The toddler slipped a few times getting caked in mud and the older one even had a couple of slips as well as mud just sloshing up his jacket from him running in it.

Surprised by all the 5/5 reviews as we really felt this place was pretty average. We parked at Wincheap and walked through which was nice though. Especially as parking here is just 50p at the moment!
Pleased to find there were 2 toilets there, but by lunch time one had run out of toilet roll!

This is a really lovely playground with things for all ages , not just toddlers. It is to be found after a pleasant walk (not too far) from the Westgate. I have spent many happy hours there with my grandchildren

Fun for kids
Aug 2019
My kids thought that the park was really fun and great with friends, the park is fairly big and lots to do can get a little busy in summer but very good place to visit.

Great for sitting while kids play

Good facilities and wide open space within 5 minutes of Westgate (St Dunstans) end of town. Dog friendly too. The big bonus is that you can have a walk (or cycle) along the river through meadows. The cycle path runs from here following the River Stour to Chartham village about 6 miles away.

Beautiful Park
Jul 2019 • Family
I took my Grandchildren yesterday and we had the most wonderful time. So much equipment, lovely environment to picnic.
Toilets weren't great but you expect this in a park and we were grateful there were some there.
Parking was tricky to find and not the easiest of roads but there was plenty of space.
We spent 4 hours there and could have stayed longer but started to rain...lovely

We keep going back because our grandchildren love it and so do we!

This is a great playground for children with swings for various ages, a zip wire which our grandchildren are too young for yet, imaginative slides and wooden houses that children love to spend time in. Then you can see the boats going by on the river and walk easily into Westgate Gardens and feed the ducks and moorhens. What more could young children want??? We take some frozen sweet corn or peas which have defrosted by the time we get to the ducks and they love this, often coming up on to the riverbank along with the pigeons. The bridge between Toddlers Cove and the Gardens have some lovely pictures and a poem by local poet Maggie Harris. If you are doing any grannie or grandpa sitting which we do once a week this is definitely a place to go.

lovely space that is surrounded by greenery

good range of things for kids to do, lots of greenery nearby as well as the stunning Westgate Gardens - definitely worth strolling through. There's also a lovely walk/cycle path along the river towards Chilham which is very pleasant.

The perfect starting point for riverside walk

There is low-priced parking here so if you’re visiting to walk into town for a couple of hours there is a lovely walk via Westgate Gardens to the end of the High Street. Alternatively if you go out of walk out of Canterbury there is a lovely 4 mile walk by the river largely.

Mainly a fair weather playground because it can get muddy but what a lovely place to take the grandchildren and there is equipment for grannie and granpa as well!!
