Great cinema without the price tag. I love seeign films at the Odeon, a truly authentic cinema. Ok, its not like a CUrzon but I love what an old cinema sdtand for (including the crunchy popcorn ont he floor)

Decent Cinema
Jan 2020
I didn't notice a lot of what other people wrote about. Maybe I just had the movie on my brain. I liked the theater that I was in. I mean, it's not in the best shape but also I think it added character. I thought it was decent. The price was on par with other cinemas, I'd say.

Was visiting here and checked reviews before setting out...it almost stopped me from going but glad I didn't listen as there was nothing majorly wrong with this cinema.

Yes it's a bit scruffy, yes it's not as modern as say Cineworld or Vue, but the seats were comfy and the sound and screen were fine.(we were in screen 2 if that makes any difference)

Would come again for sure.

Everything is wrong
Jan 2020
I had been to this cinema once before and swore never to return as it is so bad. But I got edeon vouchers for xmas so had to use them.
This place is the worst cinema I gave been in. The upstairs cinema 1 has a screen that I can only describe as mottled gray. All the way through you can see a pattern through the film that looks like a grey cloudy sky. It runs any film as you are constantly seeing the screen not the film. It is very off putting.
Also the film is very dark. Even in the indoor scenes you struggle to see whats happening.
They dont have Dolby sound also so no surround sound. I saw 1917 and it really spoiled the film.
Our tickets had no number on it so we sat down. Only to be turfed out by someone with our seat numbers on them Why did that happen?
Unfortunately I have not used up all my gift card. So unless I drive Mike's to another cinema I have to go th this horrible place again.
Maybe screen 2 is better? I'll let you know!

Over Priced and Poor Quality

This is a very old cinema, which is fine but it’s also filthy. The foyer carpet and carpet throughout is encrusted and stained and needs a thorough professional clean. The entrance fees are ridiculously expensive and so is the food. I always support cinema catering but £4.99 for a Coke is crazy.

You might as well go to a local cinema in surrounding areas as they are easily comparable in terms of experience but are 30% of the price.

Don’t mind paying top dollar as long as the experience warrants the price.

Disgusting and dirty

Came here with my 2 children to watch toy story 4 whilst in Canterbury shopping. The service was fine but everything else needs great improvement! The ladies toilets were extremely dark and intimidating for a child aswell as being dirty and run down. There was food all over the stairs and in the screen aswell as lots of chairs missing. Overall we wouldn’t return

Located on the opposite side of the roundabout from Wilko and accessed by an underpass/subway, this 2 screen odeon is a few minutes walk from the Premier Inn.

Went on a Thursday to see a film. No ushers seemed to be in attendance despite the school kids. Some should definitely have been evicted for having a popcorn fight but as it was at the end of the movie it didn't ruin the film for me.

It appears to be a first come basis for seating as there are no allocated seats - except the red premier seating which, in my opinion, is not woth the upgrade as the standard seats are comft enough for a 2 hour flick.

This is usually a last resort for our choice of cinema, always favouring Vue in Thanet, over Odeon in Canterbury.
The exterior is off-putting, and the interior isn't too clean either. The facilities (such as toilets, and food and drink preparation area) are good, but the carpets and the walls are grimy.
The screens are large, but very echo-y, and let too much light in. If someone coughs from the top of the seats, you can hear it from the very front row, and you notice everyone walking in and out at all times. Seats are uncomfortable, and the floor and walls (once again) were filthy.
The only positive was the price, at just £6.75 for two tickets (booking online, under Meerkat Movies promotion).
It is a very run down cinema, and could do with some very extensive renovations, I understand this may be difficult as it feels like a renovted theatre, so may be listed, but I would always recocmend VUE IN THANET, WESTWOOD CROSS!

So I went into Odeon because it’s Local and I decided I would treat myself, with my girlfriend . I saw Spider Man Homecoming and the staff were all so lovely! It was well organised and it was nice just to be served by someone who clearly likes their job.

Anyone who has put a bad review clearly has been really impatient because quite frankly I loved it. Keep up the amazing work guys !

Excellent experience at this lovely cinema

Just got back from watching Avengers Endgame at the Odeon cinema in Canterbury in screen 2 (ground floor).

I’d pre-booked Premier seats, which were worth the little bit extra due to the comfy seats and loads of leg room, especially as it was a very long film. We were able to easily print the tickets at the auto machines. There was a great view of the screen too (sat in row G).

The young lady who served us this morning was exceptionally good. She was so friendly and helpful.

We got there a little earlier to avoid the rush to buy popcorn etc and sat at a table and had a Costa before watching the film.

Although, it’s more pricey here, it was well worth it, I’d definitely watch a film here again.
