We were on our tour of Kent and were in Canterbury in winter when the river was a torrent!Even so,you could see the local pride taken in the flower beds.We chatted to delightful French tourists. The word stour in Scots means dust so I wonder what the origin of the word is here?We climbed over the footbridges and went along to... We always have a stroll along the river when we visit Canterbury its always relaxing. The flower's in the summer and the plants in the winter are always well kept . I witnessed one of the gardeners weeding one of the beds when an older gentleman tossed an apple core behind the bench he was sitting on, the gardener with... More

Great for a short perambulation or a short sit down Well maintained & especially nice in summer & if viewed from the nearby Westgate Tower. One of the river trips leaves from here, too. if Italian, there is a monument to their troops on the banks of the river .

Nice quiet walk most of the time , but did get overrun by foreign tourists who have no manners walk in large groups & push their way through. Sorry but it seemed to be predominantly French

Great place to relax, alone or with family, friends or a partner. Lots of green space, beautifully kept gardens, and a park to entertain the little ones.

This is a lovely place for a walk along the river and you can walk to Chartham which is probably a couple of miles, where there is a nice old pub, The Artichoke.

Beautifully maintained garden, full of vibrant colours. Very picturesque. This park is always popular but not so much that you can't find a personal spot.

Very pretty gardens along the Great Stour River. They also had what appeared to be a great playground, one side designed for slightly older kids and one for toddlers. We were kid-free this trip, so we didn't try it out, but the children playing there seemed to be having a good time, and it was well-maintained. The paths are easy... More

The gardens are beautiful and very peaceful. Very well kept and planted. The River Stour flowing through the gardens with the punts adding to the magic. Walk all the way through and there is an excellent modern playground for the youngsters. Only one thing spoils it and that is rowdy youths playing football kicking the ball really hard and lots...
