Bands play here on Friday and Saturday nights. Usually good, lively atmosphere. Wide range of beers in this pub including real ales. They serve food too. Nice beer garden outside but obviously you need the weather to appreciate it.

Great location right on the roundabout coming into Town Center, Saint Albans. A lot of separate seating areas and a nice bar. Good selection of beers and food menu.

We were visiting St Albans on a quite rainy day and looking for somewhere to have lunch at a pretty Spanish time. We hadn't found any really appealing place until we checked out this pub, whose kitchen was still open (at about 3pm) and staff was very welcoming. The menu included different deals at a surprisingly reasonable price - to be honest I expected worse. Burguers or pizzas plus beverage were about 8-10 pounds, and this wasn't ordinary food at all, but good quality indeed. Food was served after a reasonable while and we really enjoyed lunch on a typically British day in terms of weather. I really look forward to visiting St Albans and this pub again, hopefully on a day with nicer weather!

Without doubt the best bottomless brunch I have ever had. Amazing staff, great food and they are so on the ball with drinks to the table. Made the whole night!! If you ever need a bottomless brunch, this is the best option. Ryan is an absolute ball!!!

Apparently they practice discrimination against disabled people.

I visited the pub to meet with a friend. Found my friends sitting in the garden, as it was packed to capacity inside the building.

Made my way to the bar, purchased a pint of beer, then was stopped on my way back to the garden.

My beer was confiscated, and I was asked to leave the premises.

I asked why, what was wrong …. my answer was “We don't serve Bi-Polar people here”!

The staff had no way of knowing my personal medical history. My behaviour was impeccable, and I am extremely upset by this.

I was not offered any refund for the untouched beer!

I was not permitted to say goodbye to my friends, who were going to give me a lift home, and was escorted off the premises. Since I do not have a mobile phone, did not have enough money for a bus, train, or taxi home – I found myself to be in a very vulnerable, dangerous situation regarding my long journey home!

As I am nearly 60 years old and slightly disabled I found this experience to be humiliating, cruel, and unjust.

My very unpleasant experience chimes strongly with that of disabled reviewer Stephanie Willow, whose review appears below. I asked for a refund on a packet of crisps that were soft. I asked politely for a replacement pack. I was refused a refund on the grounds that I had opened the pack (!), and that I had been rude to the manager (I most definitely hadn't). The manager then refused to serve me and when I asked for an explanation I was barred for the pub. At no point was I in any way rude or raise my voice. The pub seems to have a really unpleasant management with a very big chip on their shoulder. I would suggest you avoid this pub like the plague and instead visit another of St Albans many friendly establishments.

Thought we’d have a nice pub meal & drink at The Blacksmiths. Got the drinks in & went to order food. Not sure which was the longest list, what they did have or what they didn’t have. I must admit the the burger I had was ok but really fancied steak no how about fish & chips no. The pie one of us had was tough & the 2 chicken burgers were awful, very tough to bite through. Not that many staff on duty & a mountain of glasses & bottles on the tables in the garden waiting to be collected.Service was ok but please do it with a smile. Can’t say I’ll rush back.
