The river in full flood on a cold and grey December afternoon, provided an awe inspiring backdrop to our family lunch - no one was taking the ferry or lingering long outside. The wood burners were ablaze and the beer, cider and mead provided inner warmth. Our food orders came quickly and we enjoyed tucking into some local faggots and a lovely Mac and Cheese. We look forward to a return visit in the summer, maybe with some wild water swimming!

Popped in on Wednesday lunchtime having walked from the SY East down to Biblins Bridge and then back up the West bank (about 4 miles). Sunny day so sat outside running a tab (very relaxed) with drinks for family and a box of dog treats. Stayed for lunch - Camembert with fig and honey was spot on, whitebait lovely (although could do with tartare not Marie Rose sauce) then huge burgers and good ham, egg and chips. Free chilled water (and for dogs), HPA first pint excellent although second pint cloudy and barrel/pint both immediately changed (stayed with Wye Valley for Butty Bach). Kids “full” but then destroyed a sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb ice cream (each). After lunch we hired a rowing boat for an hour and headed upstream to a little beach and swam across for rock jumping. Finally caught hand ferry back (30% cheaper than lower down) after a lovely afternoon. Off the beaten track but worth the effort. Couldn’t have been more helpful.

My girlfriend booked this place as a surprise weekend away and it was absolutely superb. As everyone says... Jamie and his staff are fantastic, the friendliest and most helpful you'll meet! The room we had was reasonably sized for for an old ferry Inn of a few hundred years! With recently decorated bathroom and electric shower. The views looking up and down the river are incredible and we had a very peaceful stay. As others state there's a hand ferry you can take to cross the river, "powered" by one of the bar staff when needed and we took this to go canoeing from a place near the Saracen's Head which is across and down the river. On the subject of the Saracen's Head... This is the place that everyone you talk to (when researching Symonds Yat) recommends... But it's very busy and noisy with a constant stream of cars... If you're looking for a constant buzz, noise and throng of many people then please go to the Saracen's head! And leave the peace and tranquility of the Old Ferrie Inne to the rest of us! We've ready booked to return here later in the year... Highlt recommended

What a great place!! We’ve been visiting the lovely Symonds Yat for years, but like most visitors, we’ve always gone to the East side of the river. I’d advise anyone to crossover the Wye! The weather wasn’t great for our visit but the staff were so friendly and helpful they made up for the showers. YOFI is a very old and quirky, historic, riverside Inn with a lot going for it. They have a great selection of drinks and very well prepared and presented food, served by very attentive staff. If you’re lucky with the weather, there’s a huge amount of riverside seating to take full advantage of the sun. We went for a lovely 4 mile circular walk, culminating with a rope ferry crossing to get us back across the river! We would have no hesitation in returning here.

A lovely part of the world, I usually stay on the east side of Symonds Yat. However, I decided to try the old Ferrie inn, I was pleased I did as the place is a gem. Good food friendly staff, beautiful views from the bedroom window and the best English breakfast I’ve had in ages. Lots of great walking and river activities. Good free parking.
