What a fantastic experience! A beautiful Tudor house in the middle of a modern shopping precinct and delightfully kitted out with contemporary fittings from a long-forgotten era. My grandchildren loved the experience and it was like walking back in time, they just couldn't believe how the inhabitants survived with no TV or Wi-Fi etc. The whole building acted as a... More

Today we took the family shopping. While my wife and daughters were trapped at Monsoons, my son and I wondered around the square and ended up in The Old House. And what a pleasant surprise it was. Beautiful old building, with fantastic mural paintings and a lovely collection of 17th century furniture. If you want to know where the frase... More

This is a beautifully preserved black and white house, with examples of period furniture. The floors are swoopy, so you can get a little seasick on the inside. The person staffing the space gave a really interesting little talk when we arrived.

Fantastic history of what came to be the only surviving house from a row of houses. Very enjoyable, and the nice lady who gave us an introductory talk on arrival was most appreciated.

Good but I had my neptew and niece aged 9 and 13 and I felt they hood bored as the they was not a lot for them to inact with for example you could have a quiz for them to do or find the letter. The wording of the displays was long and hard to read for young children. But... More

Fab enthusiastic guide in the house was so please and asked if we'd like a little more info about the house and history etc, really lovely lady. We had actually passed this in the evening a few days earlier and didn't realise it was open to the public, would maybe recommend better signage around the house itself. Free entry and... More

Located right in the middle of town and the pedestrian shopping area, its Tudor look gives it the appearance of touristy knock off. Not so. It’s the real deal --- a home occupied starting in the 1600’s --- and we were absolutely delighted that we took the time to explore its three floors. It’s free and doesn’t take long, but... More
